Olde Soul, born in Flatbush Bklyn and bred in Mid-City L.A., came up as the homie from up the block with the mean beatbox. A participant of the Hop Hop culture since the age of six, thanks to Too Short's "Life is...", his first tapes were P.E.'S "A Nation of Millions" and Young MC, bought for his eighth birthday. Raised on James Brown, The Crusaders, Isaac Hayes, Beatles, Adowa and Highlife (traditional and jazz Ghanaian music respectively), Handel's classical works, and Sequence Girls, his ear and production styles are acquired, yet relative tastes.
Olde Soul is heard blessing the likes of L'Daialogue DiCaprio from Memphis, TN, and S.P.A.R.R.K. from Philadelphia, PA, comrades from his time at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. With Oldie's production backing, these artists have received some radio rotation and love in the New Orleans area, as well as bootlegging in places as far as New York. Olde Soul continues to put it down with his comrad- Dday One, and his crew- Tha Brothaload, Mid-City and West L.A.'s finest in hip-hop artistry. Take heed...
Be on the lookout for the OLDE SOUL/DOUBLE K (P.U.T.S.) split 7" vinyl, available in September '08. "THA HAND THAT'S DEALT" ep will be out in 2009...
