About Me

For the love of America, WATCH THIS VIDEO!!!
I'm a fourth generation baker currently in medical school.
I love nostalgia-- the reminiscence of yesteryear. As a retro reveler, I am interested in all things vintage. It makes me sad that people today forget the wonderful things of the past and assume that all things in modern times are the best. Movies, art, clothes, automobiles, and even common household items were once made with more style, carefully crafted and made to last. Although I know I'm not here by accident, sometimes I feel as though I should have been born in '37... (at least then I would have been a teenager in the 1950s).
(So it's probably good my father has a DeLorean, so long as we can pick up another flux capacitor on eBay...)
I also attempt to play stride piano and hymns when I'm not stranded at school without my piano. I simply love good music.
Perhaps this quote I found will enlighten you as to my preference of older, tried and true things over today's fads--
"In the detective series Banacek, the lead character was once asked why he had so many old things in his apartment. The reply was that he liked having the very best of anything and since there was a lot more old stuff in the world than new it was reasonable that most of the best things in the world would also be old. The same can be said of music [or clothes or cars or movies or most things in popular culture]. Statistics show that only one out of every 50 songs that reach the top 40 makes it to the number 1 spot. Since there are tens of thousands more charted songs in the previous 100 years of popular music than the current year, it stands to reason that there are therefore thousands more hits from earlier eras that are worth listening to. Yes, styles change and some of these may not fit what a particular generation has gotten used to hearing and may therefore sound strange or even boring. But, if you enjoy music you have to ask yourself if you are going to let the style forced on you while you were growing up dictate to you what you will and won't listen to... If [young people] can overcome their programming, most of which they had no control over, then a wider universe of music [and life in general] opens up to them." ~ www.waynesthisandthat.com/greatestsingers3.htm
