Profile:
Back in 1995 a secondary school boy by the name of Carl Anderson was introduced to the underground dance scene. This would change the shape of things to come in this young mans life.
Carlos the Jackal became a follower of the Drum 'n' Bass scene and started to collect vinyl from then on. After purchasing his first set of decks, encouraged by close friends Paul Gleaves (AKA Lucutus of Refuge) and John Craxton (AKA Lost Cause of Refuge) he went on to develop skills and took to mixing like a duck to water. Whilst The Jackal was in his final year of secondary school he attended Arden College Manchester one night a week in order to complete the Intro into Music Technology. He then went on to attend full time but had to leave six months in as he could not afford to fund him self.
By the age of 18 The Jackal had picked up a weekly residency DJ'ing by the alias name of B.D.C at Bar Breeze, Manchester and also preformed at various other nights such as The Satans Slaves (on Bengal Street near Sankeys in Manchester) with good friend Leighton Dennis (AKA DJ Bugg). Things ran smooth for a while with Bar Breeze but then the venue was changed into another format and no longer needed DJ's. The Jackal then took time out from performing in the industry to concentrate on his career and have a child with his long term partner.
He began to DJ once again in 2004 at the Jar Bar in Stoke, playing on a weekly basis. This ended when he moved to Macclesfield and the night was no longer cost effective for him. When he returned to the North West he got in touch with John Craxton and Paul Gleaves and they introduced him to www.nwdnb.co.uk. By using this forum he made connections with his old friend Leighton Dennis and made plenty of new ones too. The Jackal was introduced to Lee from Witness the Sickness and the rest of the crew, Vickie and Charlie.
The Jackal picked up sets over the North West and Yorkshire supporting the likes of Evol Intent, Robyn Chaos, Dylan and Tech Itch and was a resident at Therapy Sessions that came to Manchester in September 06 with the Jackal as part of the promo team. The Jackal has also appeared on Unity Radio on various occasions.
In a typical 'Jackal' set you can expect to hear some of the filthy beats from producers such as Limewax, Dylan, Raiden, Counterstrike, Current Value, Calyx, Dom & Roland, Tech Itch and any other producer who pushes the boundaries off drum and bass.
