Reading, writing, musical theater, old movies, God, chatting, singing, keeping track of weird stupid things.
My top friends list is once again in order of who leaves me the most comments and messages and such. So if you're wondering why you are or aren't on it... that's why. No favoritism here, bwahaha!
I am in love with the vocals of Norbert Leo Butz, Michael Ball, Hugh Panaro, Sam Harris, and Neil Patrick Harris. I am in love with the lyrics of Jason Robert Brown, Nichole Nordeman, Stephen Sondheim, Chris Rice, and Derek Webb. I am in love with the concerts of ApologetiX.
Most of my favorite genres and artists are embarrassing. I like fluffy bubblegum pop (yes, I still like boy bands), fluffy poppy fake punk, 80s pop, disco, showtunes, and folk. But I will listen to and generally enjoy just about anything aside from super-twangy country or rock that substitutes screaming for melody.
Also, my take on indie rock: I am bugged by the snobbishness of the culture and bored by the music itself, but I still listen to it in the hopes I'll find a song or two I like.<p
I like a fairly wide variety of movies... older movies (Casablanca), romantic comedies (Love Actually), musicals (1776), dramas (Before Sunrise), kids' movies (Beauty and the Beast), foreign films (Amelie), general comedies (This Is Spinal Tap), and the occasional action flick (Ladyhawke) or horror movie (The Sixth Sense). And a bunch of other random stuff.
I dislike: Random gory stuff that makes me go "EWWW!", those annoying movies that say introverts are unlovable until they become extroverts, musicals where they cast people who can't sing (*cough*Phantomoftheopera*cough*), and I think Adam Sandler should be beaten senseless multiple times for the crimes he has committed against humanity.
A few movies I recently saw and enjoyed: Wall-E, Sling Blade, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Fame, Juno, Meet the Robinsons, The Hustler, Charlie Bartlett, Across the Universe, and Wings of Desire.
Okay, I do actually watch television, usually online. Current shows I watch include The Office, House, Monk, and American Idol. And I used to watch Heroes, but now I don't anymore. I'm also fond of Whose Line Is It Anyway, Friends, and MST3K.
British comedy shows rule as well. I enjoy A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Are You Being Served?, Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Jeeves & Wooster, QI, Have I Got News For You, Blackadder, and Extras.
A few of my favorite authors and books:
Alexander McCall Smith
Ted Dekker (Aside from Thr3e. Ugh. Come on, you wrote Blink. You can do better than this.)
Melody Carlson
Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicolson series. So silly, and yet so fun.
Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. Yes, it's a play. It still counts.
I still like Ella Enchanted. I still like Susan Kay's Phantom.
