About Me

Overview
My name is Harley aka Halfstep and I'm the craziest one legged breakdancer you'll ever meet. I live in the DC metro area and bboying is my life.
Dreams
My biggest dream right now is to become a famous dancer. I'm getting better every day, and I train hard to make this happen! After I'm a famous dancer I want to do a lot of volunteer work for children's hospitals and for those with disabilities. I want to show people that no matter what setback you have in life you can achieve your dreams. Corny enough?
Personality
I'm a really simple person. I can be a bit shy when I first meet people, but once you get me opened up I'll be joking around and acting crazy. I'm pretty laid back and it takes quite a bit to get me upset. I'm a very driven person and follow my dreams seriously.
Japan
I lived in Tokyo for about 6 months studying at Waseda University. This is where I found bboying and met some of the coolest people. I really miss Japan and hope I can go back and visit soon. I want to show all my friends there I learned how to dance and enter some events down there!
DC I really like it here in DC, I've been here for about 3 years. I'm finally meeting a lot of bboys and bgirls here. I hope I can get to know them better in the future. Currently hanging a lot with CAB crew and the rest of the bboys, having the time of my life dancing and progressing. Now that I have my car I can chill with people more often without bumming rides 24/7. I haven't had any love luck here....but I'm not really looking hard, too busy with dancing. If you're in DC hit me up on modern on thursdays, its my favorite time of the week!
Career
I work in the computer industry for a consulting firm called Booz Allen Hamilton. I'm a big computer nerd and am realling into cutting edge Java. I work with frameworks like spring all its affiliates. As of recent I've become the web interface guru on my team, so all those buzzwords like ajax and web 2.0 are quickly becoming my forte. I think its great and I'm becoming a more rounded developer. This falls in line with my career goals as some day I would like to start my own business. But I'm thankful that I can be passionate about my work and career!
Passion
Bboying is my passion in life. I'm blessed to have found it. I've been dancing almost 3 years now, progressing my skills. I finally started battling last year, my best so far is top 8 at asianfest, and I made it in the trailer!! I also won a club battle last year, but thats not the same in my eyes as winning a bboy jam, so I gotta practice harder, because I wanna win my first battle within the next year. Within the next 2 years I want to battle with bboy junior from France!! I recently joined CAB crew from MD and anticipate taking over the area! I practice almost every day. When I'm not bboying, I'm dreaming of it. Thanks to all those bboys/bgirls who have helped me along the way.
CAB Crew
A few months back I joined the Counter Attack Breakers. Its been a rough start and we have a long way to go to taking over the scene, but I want my crew to be tight, and I want us to be a team. Gotta teach bboys how to be organized and how to communicate properly. Then we can take over the scene! We are dancers, we dance to the beat and through the music. We are dedicated to spreading bboy/bgirl/dance culture. We need to step up our game collectively. We are family!
Culture Shock
Last year I joined a dance troup called Culture Shock DC. Last year was a really tough year for me on the team. I was a scholarship dancer, which meant I practiced with the team, but did not perform. I'm still not great at choreography, but through all my hard work with the team I've improved a lot. Recently we had tryouts for this year and I made the team, so I should be performing regularly. Still lacking in the choreography aspect, but I've got another year to keep working at it. Never give up and always strive!
FYP(Filipino Young Professional)
So ya, I'm now an honorary Filipino, I'm now the technical chair for FYP because I'm a nerd extraordinaireExtremity Games
This summer, I've been asked to perform at an event called the Extremity games. This event is basically the X games for those with disabilities. I'm very honored that I was chosen to perform, and am looking forward. I'm training really hard and trying to get at the top of my game. Hopefully I can meet more driven people with disabilities, make new contacts, learn about others as well as myself. And I get to battle Lazy legs..what?!
Umm thats it, message me if you want to know more.
Please support this event:

I'd like to meet:

Friends
I want to meet people with a passion for life. Those who are looking to make the world a better place. Those who dream big and strive for greatness. I also want to meet those who have lost their way and need a little direction. I've been there before, its a tough time. I especially want to meet those with disabilities, whether they are doing great things or not. We all have the same potential, the only thing that separates us is our drive.
If you want to add me as a friend and I don't know you please message me first...
