Christine Bladeni, a.k.a. Miss Chris, is a cross genre DJ on the rise in Melbourne. With a passion for the groove and funk of house, the drive and minimalism behind techno, dirty bass lines and raw electro sounds, her style can be classed as truly unique. Whether playing booty shakin’, jackin’ house, funky tech-house or rockin’ electro/electro-house, Miss Chris is sure to shake your groove thing.
Christine developed a taste and passion for electronic sounds from her adventures in the world of clubbing and working as an events photographer.
Her DJing came a little later, in the early part of 2000 when she finally put hand to vinyl. Self taught but influenced by friends who had been playing the Melbourne club circuit for several years, she picked up the challenge quickly and is now making ground in the tough Melbourne club scene.
A predominantly male industry was also a driving force for Christine to get herself out there. Her influences stem from locals like Jayse Knipe, Jeff Tyler, Scott Finemore to superstars such as Derrick Carter, Dave Angel, Mark Farina, Chris Lum, Mistress Barbara, Daft Punk, Green Velvet and Trevor Rockliffe to name but only a few.
Having held residencies at weekly tech/tech-house night Night Shift in 2002/03, Scubar in 2003 and Ménage in 2003, she also became a favourite to the thriving Geelong electro house scene at The Preston Hotel (2004/2005).
And as a former Kiss FM DJ/Co-host of "Late Night Hype" and one of the original femme fatale residents at Melbourne’s monthly Techy Electro House night Tickled Pink, Miss Chris has certainly got punters and DJs taking notice of her style and infectious energy.
She has held residencies at Dirty Disco @ Altitude, Saturdays @ The Railway Hotel, Tickled Pink @ Circus, Loco Por La Musica @ Altitude, Chicks with Decks @ Robarta and Unknown @ Eleven-A. Rotational residencies at Clockwork @ Korova Milk Bar and Congo Blue, as well as being a regular guest at Saturdays @ The Saint, Q Bar Wednesdays, Fame @ The Vatican, Get Involved @ Altitude, The Other Side @ Playpen and Transport.
On top of all of this she has also supported international artists Chris Lum (twice in 2006) and Chuck Love (twice in 2006), and The Littlemen (in 2007).
Chris has also had the pleasure of playing along side some of Melbourne's greats and risisng stars: Steve Bleas, Luke Chable, Jamie Stevens (Infusion), Keltec, Jen Tutty, Mark James, Mike Callendar, Tahl, aNyO, Shane Copal, Katie Drover, Jayse Knipe, Luke Bowditch, Elektra, Nato, Miss Peta, Jeremy K...
More recently she has gone international with her dj'ing, playing a few well recieved gigs in Thailand and hopes to expand on this next year with a tour through Asia.
Chris has also studied Electronic Music Production under the guidance of teacher Chris Lum, so is now also in the midst of delving into the world of Logic and Ableton.
The FUNK is a must when Miss Chris plays, and with her unique blending of style she is set to become a prominent Melbourne DJ.
