Disco-electro-vogue-new-romanticism is clawing itself out of Jakarta from the collective glam-ness of Lawrence Widarto and Ade Habibie with anti-diva anthem, Star Overrated. Chunky analog synth sequences decaying alongside manicured snares and an infectious straight beat. The bourgeois may hum along in sunglasses while holding a bottle of Evian.

ELECTRONIC GROOVE is the brainchild of DJ Lawrence a.k.a DJ Random and Ade Habibie. The project was born when they started to make some tunes in a dingy office space back in early 2003. Within two months they had produced more than 40 tracks, 13 of which were included on their debut album "Prototype". The album was hailed by several Indonesian music publications as marking the rise of electronic music in Indonesia. They were planning to promote the album with a mini DJ tour but the public would not be content with DJ sets and wanted more. Thus, they decided play their music live.
Since then, they've shared stage with international acts such as Silencer, Jonathan Lisle and others. After touring came the release of a limited-run EP. The single I Don't Wanna was well received in both the electronic and indie rock scenes. Rolling Stone Indonesia commented: "Electronic Groove have set the standard for electronic music production in Indonesia." After laying low in 2005, the duo is back with brand new material on "Rock, Paper, Scissor."
Shortly after the release of it's 2nd album Ade decided to leave the group for personal reason, leaving Lawrence as the sole member of Electronic Groove. Some people might consider this a huge setback but instead, Lawrence see it as a challenge.
Since then Lawrence has gone on to become the runner up of Indonesia Heineken Thirst Studio '06 (he was tied with the eventual winner Innerlight in point and became runner up only when the crowd was given the opportunity to decide the winner). You can find Lawrence spinning all over Indonesia under all of his different monikers and disguises such as Lawrence, Electronic Groove and DJ Random.
