I am here for Friends

About Me

PRAY FOR GRACE. PRAY DAILY THAT GOD WILL GIVE YOU GRACE (HIS POWER AND ABILITY) TO RESIST THE DEVIL WHEN HE TRIES TO STEAL YOUR PEACE. HE WANTS TO STEAL YOUR PEACE SO THAT HE CAN STEAL YOUR STRENGTH AND MAKE YOU WEAK AND POWERLESS.

ASK THE LORD TO STRENGTHEN YOU AND TO HELP YOU. DO NOT TRY TO DO IT BY YOURSELF! YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST, BUT NOTHING BY YOURSELF.

I HAVE STRENGTH FOR ALL THINGS IN CHRIST WHO EMPOWERS ME [I AM READY FOR ANYTHING AND EQUAL TO ANYTHING THROUGH HIM WHO INFUSES INNER STRENGTH INTO ME; I AM SELF-SUFFICIENT IN CHRIST'S SUFFICIENCY]. ~ PHILIPPIANS 4:13

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF "RED HATTING"!!! - GADS! It's been simply ages since I've taken the time to update this particular section, and it's about time a did! Have been with the "Seaside Sweet Tarts of Chula Vista" well over a year now and am really enjoying myself. This group is sooooo much different from the first chapter I hooked up with. These ladies can get together at the drop of hat, preferrably a RED one, and ready themselves for an impromptu get together.

Many chapters meet "every other Wednesday, on odd months of the year", etc. and simply have dinner. We have participated in so many different kinds of activities that it'd be impossible to list them all.

One of my main events this year was a 3-Day weekend in Ensenada, Mexico with Red Hatters from all over California. It was like a mini-convention and my first 'big-scale' event. Had an absolute ball, but am not sure I'm suited to be a "convention attender"; altho I did participate in a hat contest, for which I've provided pictures. Have also updated the album to include pictures of some of our 2007 outings, which I hope you enjoy.

I'd like to meet:

glitter-graphics.comOkay, I admit it! I'm a "cheeseball" and PROUD OF IT!!! YES! I've joined the "Hot Monkey Club" on JACK 100.7 FM and continue to earn points everyday to enter auctions and/or buy cool stuff on line!

Since I last talked to you, I've earned over 150,000 points, found a web site thread where one of the gracious members posts online 'buying times' and I've managed to buy the most amazing stuff! Keeping in mind that you're "buying" these things with FREE points you've chalked up from listening to JACK FM!

I've gotten tickets to movies, free zoo passes, CD's, DVD's AND.... the most awesome picnic hamper I've ever seen! It's fully insulated and holds two full bottles of wine, and came equipped with dishes, silverware and wine glasses for 4; plus napkins and tiny little salt and pepper shakers! I priced a much smaller one at a local gift shop and it was $99!

Many of these lovely items have turned into the grandest gifts to others on many occasions! I never could've afforded to actually buy these gifts if it wasn't for JACK 100.7 AND.... they play terrific music too!

I LOOOOVE being a monkey, earning my bananas and chatting with my fellow monkeys online in Jack's Club. I HAVE ARRIVED!!! PARTYING PRIMATE, THAT'S ME!

Movies:

Blockbuster Online is my new best friend! You have an opportunity to get MANY more movies than you do with Netflix, cuz you can take a "viewed movie" and bring it to any Block Buster store (instead of mailing it) and get a FREE movie (5 per month), while you're waiting for your the next choice in your que to be mailed to you!
I much prefer Australian and British films, and find it a cinch to "pin them down" on line. I could never keep abreast of what was "out there" by simply browsing in the rental stores. I can even reserve new releases BEFORE they're out on DVD. What a deal!
My latest recommendations are Peaceful Warrior and Perfect Stranger. I cannot understand why Perfect Stranger wasn't "hyped" more when it was in the theatres. It is an absolutely amazing mystery/thriller with Halley Berry, Giovanni Ripinsky and Bruce Willis. It was as amazing as "Derailed", which completely knocked me off my feet! Am now gonna go enjoy "Georgia Rule" and "Black Book", which just came today.

Television:

I just haven't taken a real interest in any weekly programs which include sitcoms, dramas or 'family situations'. Have NO idea when my tastes changed, but most of the themes of these particular types of shows just grate on my last nerve, or have me disliking the leading actor/actress of whom I was previously a HUGE fan! Don't want to risk that any longer, or I won't be able to watch any of their movies either!!!
I am very happy to say that I now have some shows that I enjoy on a weekly basis! At the top of my list is "Pushing Daisys", which is a hilarious new show with a completely different "over the top" theme for a change. Of course there's still "Color Splash" with David Bromstadt and Danielle Hirsch, on Mondays at 9:00. There's a new season of "Dancing With the Stars" that I manage to catch here and there. This is the LAST season of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", so that's my priority on Tuesday nites, BUT.... I have discovered something totally new and exciting on LIFETIME every Friday at 9:00 p.m. There's British physic named Lisa Williams who has a brilliant one hour program called "Life Among the Dead". Right after her is a new reality show that features physics, seers, etc. in a competition for championship in something called "American Phsyic ...." and they give them challenges that have to meet, using their skills. VERY interesting!
For the weekends, I still rely on my DVD rentals for entertainment and unfortunately manage to get a dud or two from those as well!

Books:

I discovered my favorite author while browsing thru one of my Dad's "Outdoor Life" magazines; the talented Jean Shepherd. I was totally mezmerized by his humorous style of writing, which made me feel like I was actually reading about my younger days.

Well..... It turns out that the title of Bill Bryson's book(The Life & Times of the Thunderbolt Kid)is the most exciting part! After page upon page of dry connotations of his youth and several stabs at humor in regard to who his imagination allowed him to be, I finally gave up and returned the book to the library!

Jean Shepherd will continue to be my favorite author. After all.... who could EVER forget "A Christmas Story" (you'll shoot your eye out!) OR "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss"???

Hopefully something new will peak my interest, in Storybookland" in the not too distant future!

GUARDIAN ANGEL PRAYERS
Guardian Angel from heaven so bright, Watching beside me to lead me aright, Fold thy wings round me and guard me with love Softly sing songs to me of Heaven above. Amen.
Hush my dear, lie still and slumber, Holy angels guard they bed. Heavenly blessings without number Gently fall upon they head. ~Isaac Watts
Four corners to my bed, Four angels round my head; One to watch, and one to pray, And two to bear my soul away. ~Child's bedtime prayer, 17th Century~
Little eyelids cease your winking; Little orb, forget to beam; Little soul, to slumber sinking, Let angels rule your dream. ~Eugene Field
Now let me introduce you to "My Little Treasures" who happen to be two of my personal Heroes!!! They have bravely hurdled amazing obstacles in their young lives, with the love and dedication of their awesome mother; to become amazing, accomplished little women who absolutely "light up my life"! Enjoy the slide show!
