BRAND NEW RELEASE!
I started Skank Records in 2003 with a mission to put out crucial reggae music. And to pay the artists fair royalties for their works. So far so good.
Ossie Dellimore was my first release in 2004 with the improved re-issue of the out-of-print "Freedom's Journal (and check out "Sharp As A Razor" from it on the above player).
Three compilations followed, "Crucial Reggae From Outside Jamaica," Vol. 2 and Vol. 3. Each will knock you out. Guaranteed. I took many of my favorite songs from groups "from outside Jamaica." Dominica, St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John, Ghana, St. Vincent, Trinidad, Canada, and the U.S. Absolutely crucial tunes. Above, you can listen to "Apple" from Nasio Fontaine (from Vol. 1), "Election Time" from Sheriff Ghale (from Vol. 2) and "No Limitation" from Pressure (from Vol. 3). Each tune is awesome.
Also available is the cd from Maimon And The Mongoose Band, "Third Ear" (listen to a crucial tune from it, "1945," above).
Just released is the crucial compilation entitled "Classic Rasta From Jamaica And Beyond, Vol. 1." (and to hear one of the tunes, check out Deyansa's "Pain And Sorrow" above)...
Also trying to release a new Ossie Dellimore cd, "Ethiopia Rejoice," but it's hit a snag. Soon come, though.
Each cd has close to one hour of intense reggae, and each has a 16-page booklet with info and all the lyrics. So you can absorb everything these artists have to say. and believe me, they're saying a lot. and besides giving all the artists fair royalties, I'm also giving proceeds of the compilations to the charitable organization, "Doctors Without Borders."
I send the discs out anywhere in the world and send them out within 24 hours. I guarantee these tunes will blow you away...
