About Me
Hi Y'all!! Wassup??My name is Toni Seawright. I am currently living in Brooklyn, NY. However, I was born, bred and raised in Moss Point, Mississippi. My mom's name is Annie Laura and my Dad is the Late Norman Houston Seawright, Sr. I have 5 sisters, Deborah, Cynthia, Marsha, Phyllis and my beloved Twin Sister TINA SEAWRIGHT-JOINER, and I have one brother, Normnan, Jr..my youngest brother passed in 2002-his name is Roderick Andrea. I attended Mississippi University for Women where I was listed as Who's Who in America's Universities and Colleges. Nonetheless, from that experience of attending MUW, I won the local preliminary pageant there that allowed me to compete in the State Miss Mississippi Pageant. I went on to capture the coveted title of Miss Mississippi, becoming the first African American to win from that state thus competing in that year's Miss America Pageant (4th Runnerup).I later got married to a football player (Steelers) and moved to Pittsburgh. That wedding lasted longer than the marriage itself!! LOL. I went on to move to NYC where I worked as a professional background vocalist, singing backing vocals for the likes of Freddie Jackson, Teena Marie, Aaron Hall, Melba Moore, to name a few. I moved to NY to become this FAMOUS Star (LOLOL) and it NEVER happened!! AH MAN!! Hey...but, it doesn't stop there. I went on to co-star in the revival of "The Wiz" with Stephanie Mills as Dorothy and Andre DeShields as "The Wiz" and my dear Sister/Momma/Friend Miss Ebony JoAnn as Addapearle. I also understudied in a Broadway Show called "StreetCorner Symphony" after contacting the Director and letting him know that I WANTED to be a part of the cast...even though the show had already been cast. I went on quite a few times, thanks to the wonderful vocalist singing sensation Carol Dennis "The Color Purple" , who God continues to bless with gigs...which gave me a chance to shine in her absense!! LOLOLOkay...So, alot has gone down with me in the past 20 years. I've lost 2 husbands, a father, a brother and a dear nephew!! Well, maybe I should rephrase that, because my ex-husbands didn't die...Just the marriages.I've got two beautiful children from the second marriage. My eldest, Qaasim, is a co-star of the new Nickelodeon hit tv series "The Naked Brothers Band". Khalil, the youngest, can be seen on Noggin's "Jack's Big Music Show" and he does his own thing too. They both sing, dance, play percussion and Qaasim now plays the guitar. They have great agents (Abrams Artists) and I guess, I'm living vicariously through my children, at this point.I've done stand-up, which my debut from 4 years ago, landed me the opportunity to shoot my very first pilot for Turner Broadcasting recently!! We want that one to get picked up!! So, with God's grace...We're gonna keep our fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed on that one!! I love doing standup and will get back to it this year as well as kicking off a songwriter campagne with a few good friends such as the likes of Gwendolyn Quinn, Gordon Dukes and Bobby Daye. In addition, I won't quit my day job!! LOLOL Right now, I'm currently working as a real estate agent with NEW YORK LIVING SOLUTIONS, NY NY!!. So, if you're looking for an apartment to rent or a house to buy or list...HOLLA!!I'm still singing...if you need demo's and/or jingles..holla at yo girl! I'm also currently working for a company where I perform several impressions/impersonations on the radio (Whitney, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross..to name a few). I also perform as a spoken word artist/poet with Creative Outlet Dance Theater of Brooklyn where my children are also students.I just got a part in my first play.
