Toronto's music collective In Support of Living create and perform shimmering soundscapes conjuring emotive atmospheric music along the lines of Air, Boards of Canada and Sigur Ros.Founding member Brad Ketchen (Hollowphonic) uses guitar, rickety samples, toy keyboards and electronic mixes alongside the instrumentation of bandmates, Tyler Drygas (Escalate) on drums, Cal Hager (Hollowphonic) on guitars, Ursula Campbell on vocals and theremin, Katherine Shipley (Science International) on cello, Ben Deschamps (The Ghost Is Dancing) on violin, Shandy Kerns (Escalate) on piano, Rozalind MacPhail on flute, and Alphonse Lanza (Dirty 30) on moog and other fine gadgetry. With an acquiescent circle of players, live shows blossom as a minimal two-piece or flourish further as a robust wall-of-sound collective of nine. Frequent collaboration with US filmmaker Rob Tyler adds a multimedia element to performance that charges songs with entrancing rapturous images, transcending the barrier of sound. In Support of Living will release a full-length album and a Steve Mason (Beta Band) remix of song ‘High String’ in the summer of 2007.
“In Support of Living, three words: The New Hotness†TorontoIndie.com
“In Support Of Living certainly took the title of lushest act of the night, with a seven-piece lineup playing over top of some densely arranged samples. If I were to draw more shoegaze parallels, I'd put them alongside late-era Slowdive with a dash of less goth-y 'Cocteau Twins'â€

“I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by their sound. Dreamy landscapes, Moog distortion, and sweet, not sickly sweet, just Splenda sweet vocals.â€
