About Me

Freedom Black started doing shows in 1993 in Okinawa, Japan after winning a Sony Records contest held on Kadena Air Force Base. After his military enlistment Freedom Black enrolled in Voorhees College wehre he hooked up with D.J. El-Ra and joined the group Metamorphlo. The group performed locally in the downtown scene of Augusta at The Soul Bar, The Red Lion Pub and The Continuum. Recordings with the group and solo Freedom Black tracks were featured and can be downloaded by going to www.acidplanet.com and viewing the Metamorphlo artist page. While recording and compiling tracks for the group, Freedom was able to consciously elevate his underground hip-hop basement style that would clasify him as a solo artist. Freedom continued to assemble his skills and saw the results when he won a talent constest in 1998 at Voorhees College which granted him the privilege to open for the Goodie Mob and Rell during the college's homecoming festivities. The success of the show gave Freedom the imminent confidence that allowed him to be labeled by underground hip-hop followers as a phenomenal stage performer. In 2001 and 2002 Freedom was invited to perform live at the D.J. Jimi birthday bash in Kingsport, Tennessee. He unrelentingly built up his dexterity in stage performance in 2003-2004 doing shows in Washington D.C. working with Enoch the 7th Prophet. The year 2004 ended with Freedom upholding his self-belief when shutting out all competition by winning the Battle of the Beats hosted by Power 107 in early November for the track titled 120 Seconds of Freedom. The year 2005 has already been a huge success for Freedom Black. The Soul Bar downtown Augusta has been blessed and impressed with his unmatched stage confidence that he is now a rugularly invited guest. Freedom Black contunues on his quest to be an unforgotten, unparalleled name in hip-hop. Look for his noteworthy solo album Life of a Nomad soon! myspace graphics & layouts
