Rate my poem, Go hereWhat can I say My name is Freedom Butcher and I love music, I use it to channel my energies. I grew up in somerstown, portsmouth and found it a load of shit. Im a chef and im married to my beautiful wife Natalie and i have a beautiful daughter called Hope. I like to sing, rap, produce, perform,record and play music. I play the guitar, a bit of bass, keyboard, the harmonica, the bongo's, the decks and the beats. I first started getting into performing when i was about five dancing in front of the TV to Michael Jackson...as i got older it progressed to the school disco and then onto the stage. I first rapped on stage in my leavers assembly yr six when i sang n-trances stayin alive in front of 350 school kids but it wasnt until i got to secondary school that i realised i wanted to be a singer/rapper and i started singing and rappin to instrumentals at school concerts...when i was about 13 i started performing at under 18 nights at the local clubs and eventually word got around and a local Dance choreographer Maria Stylianou contacted me to perform with her hip hop/street dance group in local theatres and youth clubs etc. by the time i was 15 i was singing in front of 1500 people at places like the kings theatre, the theatre royal and many other smaller venues. we ended up recording a music video and thats when i was first introduced to the recording studio. i was hooked from the start and i havent stopped since. I went to mayfield school and was also in the school band where i met Berry Rees who introduced me to home recording we recorded a lot of music together and i began to find myself as a poet song writer. i left Mayfield school 2001 to take 2 yrs out to "find myself" and earn some money...not realising the 2 yrs i took out would turn into nearly 3, during this time in 2003 i was approched by youth music a charity that give young musicians a chance to record there own music in real top recording studio's. it was a great time and i got to meet some cool people. there were three guys from portsmouth and two guys an a girl from bristol and we recorded a great track and got to chill in a top studio with none other than roots manuva. the track "change the way" is available to listen to and download at the bottom of the page in "my friends" "siestamusicuk"...inspired by this great oppurtunity...i decided to go to college. So i went to south downs college late 2003 and studied DJ technology for a year...not my first choice but it was the only course available. early 2004 i met my wife Natalie and we fell in love. August i took natalie out to a fancy restaurant and asked her to marry me luckily she said yes!!!!!!...september 2004 i passed my course getting me a first diploma in DJ technology, Sound operations, Sequencing, Music Buisiness and music production. instead of persuing my education the way i wanted and going on to do music technology i decided to leave colloge to find my self a career to support my wife... the oppurtunity arose and i became a chef!!!.june 25th 2005 me and nat got married. February 2006 my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter Hope!!! filled with inspiration i started composing and producing more music and ended up taking some to birmingham to perform with my uncle Ray Butcher and his full jazz band. Freedom B (born Freedom Butcher 12.01.85) is a singer, song writer, Poet, Musician, Producer from Portsmouth uk who has been producing and recording tracks since 2000 and performing live since he was a young child starting very early performing Michael Jackson impersonations at school concerts assembleys and discos etc. But when he moved upto secondary school he started performing cover tracks with a close friend of his Gemma Anderson by big artists such as P.diddy, ll cool j and Nas and it wasn't until 1998 when he was taken under the wing by a council worker by the name of Deepa Patel who organised freedom and gemma to perform at under 18 nights at local clubs and events such as Time and Envy, Rant, Vibrant and the brook club. It wasn't until 1999 that Freedom was discovered by Local dance choreographer Maria Stylianou who decided freedom was the perfect performer to front her dancing squad at local performances. During this time Freedom and Gemma performed at big venues such as The Kings Theatre, The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth Arts Centre and many others and even went on to shoot a 5000 pound video at a Horndean Community school funded by the national lottery this was when freedom was first introduced to the recording studio when he recorded a cover track of ghetto superstar in the schools state of the art studio. Freedom then went on to split with Gemma Anderson and Team up with another local singer Gemma Ridgeway who he had worked with in the School band along with guitarist Berry Rees and drummer David Grey. Freedom and Gemma Ridgeway went on to perform at local Youth Council Meetings and other local events. During Freedoms Time in the School band he became close Friends with Berry Rees a local guitarist, bassist and producer who got Freedom into home recording which started a recording relationship which was to last for years. It wasnt until 2000 that freedom started producing his own music on his pc at home and it wasnt until mid 2001 freedom set up his own multitrack recording studio and Freedom B Productions was born...to be continuedFREEDOMBPRODUCTIONS!!!
