About Me

Bonnie V was born in Astoria Queens and grew up in Stapleton projects on Staten Island, NY, home of the world famous Wu Tang Clan. Her love for music was inspired by family members and her mother who is a professional R&B singer who played music in the house 24/7. In the 80’s, it was hip hop music that inspired Bonnie V to write rap lyrics at age 9.
Although V wasn’t allowed to hang out in the streets, she went to school and hung out there with the street wise youths and soon developed an obvious swag of a girl growing up in the projects. V is often quiet, observant and introspective, known to be stand offish, has a problem with authority and has a nonchalant attitude that most mistake as conceit. She has no problem with saying things as she sees it and expresses that clearly, eloquently and sometimes forcefully through her music.
Bonnie V was first introduced to the world of recording by producer CJ Moore of Bigga Men Entertainment who has worked with many artists including LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Akineyle, Bizmarkie, 2 Pac and others. It was at this time that Bonnie V (known as Netta at the time) began to take writing and recording music more seriously. This relationship with Moore helped Bonnie lock down many national live performances and radio appearances as well as a feature on the rapper Akineyle’s hit album Anaconda on a track called “What”.
While working with CJ Moore V continued to branch out and has recorded and performed with many other well known New York and east coast artists including Crew Original from Money Entertainment. Her relationship with Money Ent produced more live, televised and also music video appearances as well as features on their internationally released mixtapes. Bonnie has received much respect for her rugged yet feminine stage presence and for the fact that she writes her own lyrics. Five years after meeting her first producer, she decided to move on. In 2006 she was introduced to Producer/A&R Byron Martinez formerly of Capitol Records. Impressed with her skill and drive, he flew her out to Burbank, California to record a demo at Sound City Studios and she impressively tracked 11 songs over a course of a weekend.
With a hot demo and a Myspace page under her belt, Bonnie V decided to move from Brooklyn to the new Mecca City of Atlanta, GA. There Bonnie V was introduced to the PaRock Production team who were looking for a hot female rap artist. V blew them away at a freestyle session and it’s been on ever since. Recently completing a new hotter demo as well as starting the recording of her first album, Bonnie V is set to make a huge impact in late 2007 and definitely in 2008. Bonnie says, “Roc has the hottest tracks with so many different styles to choose from, that I always stay in a zone!”
Bonnie V is definitely feeling her new family at PaRock and fits right in with the other PaRock artists which includes Bonz, Fam Famil and R&B sensation Candice. She has no doubt that PaRock will take her to the next level, this is just the beginning. With creative flows and lyrics based in reality, Bonnie V takes what the male rappers talk about and flips it from the female’s perspective. She wants to be diverse and wants to catch the ears of those who are into beats, hooks, lyrics and flows. While freestyling from off the top and battle rhyming is fine, Bonnie V’s strong suit is painting pictures and writing complete songs and hit records.
