i've been getting away with it all my life

About Me

i don't use this stupid thing anymore. my very brief love affair with myspace has ended because i realize it's pretty much for c**ts. even people i know and love dearly come across looking like ignorant idiots because they just had to have that extra youtube video that hilariously reflected their personality that little bit more than the 8 they already have on my profile. i can't bear to look at another photo slideshow, i can't bear to hear some shitty 'next big thing' band blaring out of every single profile i visit, and i can't bear the stupid camera angles anymore. so i officially bid you good day.(and yeah, i'm putting myself on a pedestal and looking down on all of you, but need i remind you that i'm not the one who thinks that my personality is reflected by shiny graphics of cherries and tinkerbells?)

My Interests

knitting, reading, singing, playing guitar, falling in love with characters in books, drawing, painting, conversation worth having, NYLON magazine, eye makeup, over analzying, aesthetics, original philosophies, karaoke, going out for coffee in pretentious independent coffee shops, indie boys, journaling, people-watching, sleeping, long bus journeys alone, sleepovers, baking, museums, customizing anything and everything, sleeping, pictures in fashion magazines, chat-up lines, having one of those conversations where every five minutes there's laughter, performing of any sort, people-watching, being faux-ghetto, hearing the most meaningless stories other people can tell, meeting new people, going to the soundhaus, smoking.

I'd like to meet:

people who share the same outlook as i do or are at least tolerant enough to accept the way i go about things as being my business. aesthetically pleasing people i can be jealous of. intelligent insomniacs who will talk with me late into the night. people who won't lecture me for smoking. people who are interesting, but talk, rather than putting themselves on a pedestal and letting others admire from afar. people who think there's a little more to life than sleep eat work. people who like nights in as much as i do. people who like to meet for coffee. people who like to knit. people from my former life. people who understand the dress ethic of 'throw as much shit on as possible at once and don't give a damn if it matches'. captain rhett butler. someone else who keeps a journal. more platonic male friends. people who like 80's music in a genuine, NON-IRONIC way.

Movies:

i don't watch many films but my favouritest in the world is pulp fiction. my least favourite films are the new star wars ones. george 'stalinist revisionism' lucas needs to just stop it.

Television:

mostly sugar rush. but also family guy, the simpsons, futurama, peep show and have i got news for you?

Books:

the bell jar-sylvia plath, a handmaid's tale-margaret atwood, the blind assassin-margaret atwood, a streetcar named desire-tenessee williams, lord of the flies-william golding, the secret history-donna tartt, girl, interrupted-susanna kaysen, the grapes of wrath-john steinbeck, one flew over the cuckoos nest-ken kesey, hamlet-shakespeare, eyeless in gaza-aldous huxley, anything by murakami, the god of small things by arundhati roy, laughter in the dark by valdimir nabokov

Heroes:

courtney love,
my five year old self,
sylvia plath,
virginia woolf,
marilyn monroe,
marie antoinette,
my great grandmother,
elizabeth taylor.
