What are kings when regiment is gone?

About Me

You have found me: a Kansan by way of Ankara, Buenos Aires and Dublin. I'm tall, I scribble about strippers and architects, and I have a pair of glasses somewhere. What else? I refuse to mellow. I am sincere! I'm getting weirder with age. I'm an INFJ on the MBTI, which may explain a lot or nothing to you. Those of you yearning for specifics because you've read something of mine, seen something of mine on display, had me as an instructor, or watched me in public are destined for disappointment here, but I do love you just the same. I score high for adventures and for endeavoring to know people whose stories seem to go untold. I get low marks for not caring as much as I should about money and self-promotion and other sillinesses. I prefer walks while eating popsicles instead of caviar and dread. Nirvana to me would be: "brevity." Still working on that.

My Interests

I'm a proponent of Liberty. And Reason.

I'd like to meet:

People who've lived, stylish nerds, experimentalists, revolutionaries, provacateurs, anyone who can rock plaid, self-effacing optimists, the non-dumb. There's no hurry; I might like you better in a week. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The World at Weird

Such weird, sad new about Anna Nicole Smith.  My guess is she killed herself.  To me, she seemed like a sort of train wreck of the funny, jovial kind (as opposed to the Courtney Love ki...

Patchy fog lessening during the day

Some fog, some clarity--      Last night I felt kind of stomach-achy, so I stayed in while Pete went out to Plonk with some friends.  It was okay, though, since last night was...

shallow

My throne room seems to have been built in the Palace of Cynicism, which kind of blows I guess, but I do some of my best work there.  I know people there.  I speak the language.  I'm st...

when

When you're . . . No. When I'm  . . .  When I'm at my pissiest, depressed and hating the world--and often for good reason(s)--I try to do something nice for somebody else who deserves it.&nb...

Probes and Needles and Pet Jackassery

Roy can be a prima dona.  He knew a trip to the vet was looming (how, I don't know, but he knew).  At about 11:15 this morning I went out to warm up the car and scrape more snow off it. ...

Hyping a Sodden Pile

We have just returned from seeing Pan's Labyrinth, a movie I couldn't wait to see.  Holy crap.  I think this movie may actually be one of the worst, most vile, wretched pieces of shit I have...

Linktastic bushwhackery

Interesting discussion going on in the Homo Faux Pas group here.  The shrink in me has been at work. So I was in this coffee shop this evening, and the girl who was sitting in my lap totally...

Rapid Fire

1.) Bush spoke tonight, but unlike the burning variety there was nothing mystical on offer.  Besides, none of the words were his own, so I skipped it. 2.) Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon H...
