Son to Lloyd Jones who was a reggae singer famous for his 70’s hit Rome; Roe was Destin to be an artist. He was born in Linstead Jamaica and has been surrounded with music his whole life. At a young age he would watch his father performed and always wished he was along side him. He wrote his first song at age 10 and has never stopped. Coming up in the rough life that is Jamaica far from the tourist attractions, music was the thing that kept him going. He would perform at school functions and was always involved in the creative programs. With some luck his family got the opportunity to come to America. This was a big culture shock for him, in Jamaica where the primary music form was reggae with an occasional R&B in America it was the total opposite. He moved to Yonkers NY from a one room apartment in Jamaica’s ghetto to a one bedroom apartment in the hood. Here he started getting a feel for Rhythm and Blues and began to study the old time greats Marvin Gay, Sam Cook, Smokey Robinson, Barry White just to name a few. Still keeping is reggae feel intact he began to write and sing R&B. From then it was on after high school Roe submersed himself in writing, accumulating booklets of materials. Now he was ready to begin recording. He hooked up with a manager and landed an audition with RCA records for a group project. Though not selected for the group he made the necessary connections with A&R’s and was given the opportunity to record a demo. Due to conflicts with his manager Roe was forced to leave the project behind. From there He went on to do open mics From New York to Baltimore opening for Sisco, and Fat Joe. He appeared on local community music shows. For a brief time he worked with Sugar Daddy Woodley from NY’s 107.5 wbls. In the meantime he has record with local artists and producers and kept on performing steady building up a fan base. Since then the music has become stronger and Roe has formed his own identity. His music as been fused between the two cultures Reggae and R&B to form a sound that is neo soul yet has an Island feel. To date he his still building his music catalog. His songs are being played on internet radio, and he has just finish a compilation for Bus Shop records an independent label.
