PA'LANTE SIEMPRE PA'LANTE MI GENTE!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLACK n BROWN POWER!What goes around...comes around... u may not feel it .. but your kids might! Heaven is a gift, a gift that's given to you for your faith in Jesus. Faith at that level is a choice. -Anne Graham Lotz I am currently educating myself on being an AFRO-BORICUA and acknowledging my past.. not becoming a slave of it... but building upon it!! AFRICA THE BEAUTIFUL... THE ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE...
this is for all of those Puerto Ricans that are DARK as heck, yet claim that they have NO BLACK in them.. what a SHAME.The inside of a slaveship.... How crowded they were... and how they were contained... like if they were going to go anywhere... Where I am from in Africa.....East Canary Islands our flag.... ON PUERTO RICO- ORIGINALLY BORIKEN... until this idiot came along.... yeah.... The history of the Caribbean's indigenous peoples is often told from the European perspective, rather than the indigenous peoples themselves. The majority of the written records pertaining to their culture and history consist of diaries and the reports of European explorers, conquerors and their descendants who have a long history of misinterpreting the native-american cultures. Obviously, their insight was limited, as they did not share the language nor did they have a solid understanding of the indigenous peoples way of life. Another flaw in the history of the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean is that they are frequently lumped together as one singular group. In almost every historical account, the Taino people have been interchangeably linked with the Arawak, and have been categorized together. This one inclusive category has remained intact to the present day, with little documented challenge. Few people have any concept of their linguistic and cultural diversity, nor do they know the names of the different groups. Today, although the indigenous populations of the Caribbean have decreased substantially in numbers, their culture, in many places, is still very much alive. It is important to realize that these people are more than just a memory and that by looking at their story from all possible angles, we can put together the pieces of their history and attempt to find the truth. Taino Borincano - DNA testing is under way at UPR - Mayaguez. Random samples have shown a considerable number of Puerto Ricans have an "Amerindian" genotype.. Boricua: n., adj. Meaning "The Valiant People of the Sacred House". Derived from the Taino name for Puerto Rico (Boriken: Land of the Brave Noble Lord). Represents a proud sense of identity. Taino: n., adj. "The Good Ones". Native American tribes originally inhabiting pre-Columbian Boriken (Puerto Rico), Haiti-Kiskeya (Haiti-Dominican Republic), and Cuba. Arawak: n., adj. Language spoken by a once-predominant group of Native American tribes originally inhabiting an area that stretched from present-day Florida down through the islands of the Greater and Lesser Antilles and the coastal area of South America as far as Brazil. Since we on some Boricua Business... lets talk about the YOUNG LORDS MOVEMENT......In the 1960s, Young Lords emerged as a political organization in Chicago. While in prison, Jose "Cha Cha" Jimenez met Fred Hampton and other Black Panther Party members. They discussed the exploitation and oppression of Latino/as, African Americans and poor people in the United States. Cha Cha took what he learned to the Young Lords, at the time, a well-known Chicago street gang, and transformed the Young Lords into an organization committed to human rights and the liberation of Puerto Rico. The Young Lords believed that institutions in the community should be accountable to the people that they were established to serve. Neglect and unresponsiveness led the Young Lords to take direct action to bring attention to the deplorable economic, social and political conditions existing in poor Latino/a communities across the United States. By 1976, the Young Lords Party had disintegrated as a result of government and police repression and political infighting. The organization ceased to exist, but the principles it stood for remain. The HeadQuarters.... WE DON'T PLAY!!! When the community speaks... BEWARE: The Unfortunate events that occur when we have to fight for EQUALITY... death of a YLO Brother... Want some Black Panther education? Watch this video..... AFRO TAINO also stands for the offspring of Puerto Rican people with African and/or African americans. one of the world's greatest entertainers: Sammy Davis jr. was the product of a Puerto Rican mother and an African american father. Others like Carmello Anthony, Maxwell, N.O.R.E., Reagan Gomez Preston and Antonio Fargas (best known as "Huggy Bear" from TV's Starsky and Hutch) are all of a Puerto Rican/Black mixture.AFRO TAINO lastly stands for the Unity thats needed within the Black and Puerto Rican communities. The two groups have shared the same ghettos for decades and were pitted against each other by the powers that be to create disunity and mistrust but that plan backfired and great things were accomplished within those ghettos from the Young Lords Party’s beginnings as the Boricua version and ally of the Black Panther Party to the development of the Hip Hop culture which included BOTH Blacks and Puerto Ricans in the South Bronx. Together we can’t be stopped!

AFRO TAINO can actually have three definitions: First and foremost it stands for Puerto Ricans as a whole because a vast majority of Puerto Rican people are a mixture of Taino native, Spanish, and African DNA.Conquerors from spain invaded the Island of Borinquen and renamed it Puerto Rico. They also enslaved the people that they found living there, those people were the Taino natives of the island, after intermingling with Taino women and killing and using the men as labor, the Spaniards imported slaves from Africa to work the sugar cane fields. Spanish men then intermixed with African slave women and created various mixtures in the people, which was further mixed as the Africans and Tainos began to intermarry. Centuries later we have a nationality of people who range in appearance from the Blackest of Black to the whitest of white and all variations in between.African culture and customs remain prevalent on the island in the faces of the people and in everyday life. In the music; Bomba and Plena, the food; gandules and yuca, and even in religous practices like Santeria are all of African origin.AFRO TAINO also stands for the offspring of Puerto Rican people with African and/or African americans. one of the world's greatest entertainers: Sammy Davis jr. was the product of a Puerto Rican mother and an African american father.
