...Spawned from the concrete walls of a basement in Holbrook NY, good friends Steve Cauchi, Pete Bruss and Steve Wilgeroth began writing material for what would eventually darken into a thing called 'Shades of Black'. With unforgettable hooks and effortless collaboration, the 3 realized that they were meant to write together. Within no time at all, ideas were adding up and the hunt was on for a drummer and lead guitarist.
After a year+ with valued friends, Charles and Theodore Sampieri in the line-up, the band was evolving. Although a parting of ways with Charlie and Ted resulted during this period, the time together will always be reflected upon as a terrific journey and a fantastic experience. Both Charlie and Ted are wished the best of everything from us all, in their personal and artistic futures.
While re-evaluating the goals, direction and future of the band a very close friend of Wig's, DParris, referred him to a drummer he met named Paul Quigley. Wig contacted Paul and during that very first phone conversation Wig knew immediately that Paul had a personality that was perfect for the next chapter of Shades of Black. After an audition that left the S.O.B team in awe... the rest is being written as we speak. Shortly after Paul joining the band, the team enlisted the talents of close friend and lead guitarist, Joe Gullo. Joe brings this union to full fruition with his arsenal of mastered styles and creativity. With the group finally complete... the MARCH is on... Stayed tuned as S.O.B's bright futuere unfolds...
Shades of Black, like their name, are widely in tune with the vast layers of the Rock N Roll spectrum. From dark to darker, they continue to explore sound and subject to deliver thought provoking, fist pumping, renegade Rock.
