Music, Movies, Books, Travel, Science, etc. I like having good conversations with smart, interesting, witty people. I like low-brow humor, and people who are respectful but not so politically correct. Anyone who can make me laugh.
Anyone who doesn't bring any more drama into my life. I love science geeks. People who appreciate the simple things in life. People who want to do something with their lives, anything! really! No more professional bus drivers!!!!!!! I swear, when they're talking to me sometimes I want to shoot myself! I don't care about your trucking days or what new amazing thing you did to your coach, blah blah blah....God! The ego of some of these old guys! --update-- YEAH!!!!!!!!!! No more bus driving (at least for now). Unless I happen to get a job driving in Anarctica. There's a long waiting list, but if I apply now, a spot may open up by the time I finish up my epidemiology fellowship.
Just about anything but new country, easy-listening jazz, and boring modern rock. Of course, I have a special place in my heart for early punk rock (especially the '77 era), and I love classic country, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and Hank Williams Sr., etc.
Stand by Me, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Breakfast Club, Beetlejuice, the X-Men movies... I don't know, I can't think of much right now. As those who know me best know, I'll watch just about any ol' crap.
I love bad tv, most shows I won't admit to here; however, there's a lot of crap on tv nowadays that even I won't watch. I don't have cable, but I love the Sopranos, Six Feet Under and Deadwood.
Almost anything by Salman Rushdie (but I didn't really like 'The Ground Beneath her Feet') I went to see him read from his new book, "Shalimar the Clown" last fall, and he's just brilliant and hilarious! Cider House Rules, and most of John Irving's books I don't know, I'll read just about anything, once I start a book I have to finish it.
Hmmm.....maybe Paul Farmer. I think Salman Rushdie is funny and brilliant, but overall, I guess I don't really believe in heroes.
