About Me

Here's a little bit about me, for those don't know. I'm a very compassionate and sometimes that can be my weakness. I’m obsessed with motorcycles, scented candles, stilettos, and men with foot fetishes. ;) I'm reserved and don't like getting close to people. I'd rather be alone than have to suffer through meaningless relationships.
My Commentary:
GET IT TOGETHER
As long as we keep degrading ourselves, how can we expect others to remain accountable for what they say or do? Why is there such a shock when hip hop artists have been degrading and belittling our women and our people for years? I don't downplay the recent events, but why is there such a fuss now? Because someone white said it and it's okay for us to say it to ourselves? Doesn't make since.
When you're running a business you have to watch your reputation and set standards in order to be successful. Same with family. You should support, help, and teach other the right things in order to build a strong foundation. Black people could be so much further if we all thought that way, but we're consistently pushing ourselves back. Instead we're selfish and have a "nobody gives a fukk about me so I won't give a fukk about you" attitude. We want what everybody got and we don't give fukk about who's toes we step on to get it. When we walk down the streets we already have negative impressions of each other. Like I said, we think about ourselves and our quick to make judgments. Think about where they might have came from and how there's a big chance no one was there to teach them any better. Instead of judging and being envious of each other, we all should lead by example and learn to embrace each other. Until then we can’t point the finger and expect for someone on the outside to fix what needs to be worked on at the core with our own people. But that's my own opinion. ~4/15/07
HIP HOP MUZIC & ARTISTS RESPONSIBILITY
I believe an artist should have their right to freedom of speech. Just like I have the choice of what movies I watch, I should have a choice of what type of muzik I'd like to hear. You can't fault the muzik. Unfortunately theres a lot of sick and misguided people that need help. It's ultimately the parents responsibility to teach these kids right from wrong. We've grown into a culture where kids are raising kids and BET television becomes the babysitter.
On the flipside, I do believe an artist is responsible for the how they portray themselves outside the studio. If you look at all other forms of art, those artist express themselves in different ways, but they know when to step back into reality or they learn from experiences and strive to live better lives. I mainly fault the media for that. The focus seems to be on fame, glam, and who's got the most drama and biggest rims. Is that the reality we want to pass along? It's just giving our young uneducated people unattainable goals to reach. That leads me to how women are disrespected. Think about the 1 out of 4 girls sexually abused before 18. Their self-esteem has been crushed and they've lost all sense of respect. You give these girls a false impression that they need to be grimy and nasty to get a mans attention. Each generation gets worse and we lose that majestic mentality we once had. We get immune and start to believe that's the life most worthy of living. Our fathers didn't show momma how a Queen is treated, so what do we (ladies) have to learn from? Is this the only way to get attention? Be a phat booty video vixen or ride or die chick that'll blast a Mutha-----? Men are supposed to be our protectors, and you wonder why some women have turned so triflin or more independent. Unfortunately, we rarely get to see the positive in the hip hop industry, we're subject to the negative stereotypes thrown out there. Don't fault the artists, fault the media and record labels that make the bad guys look so good and give them the impression that the only way to shine is to make compromises that hurt our people. ~4/21/07
