The journey that is LaMani started about 13 years ago, when Paul Law and Kemani Jones wrote their first songs together. Kemani and Paul met during a time when Kemani was writing; singing and producing for his group at the time, but was looking for some help with the project. That group had reached a high level of fame in our area. They had a video that was highly requested locally and seemed to be on the verge of something great. Unfortunately, the company they were signed with had issues that turned all their hope into a new realityNo deal.
Despite all the ups and downs that Paul and Kemani faced, like writing for Uncle Sam's album when Boys II Men decided to use their own producers and writers instead, they continued to write and sing locally. Between being featured on albums by Tech N9ne, and writing for a number of other producers and artist, they began working under the moniker LaMani, a combination of letters from their names.
LaMani was able to reach their own level of success and notoriety by writing, singing and producing different projects locally from gospel, to rap and R&B. Recently, the decision was made by them to put together a project of their own that reflects their sound, their range and their style. Love Hard is what they created.
Love Hard is an emotional ride that moves through the different aspects of relationships, and shows women that there are real men out there that know how to express themselves and still be strong. The Love lyrics and smooth vocal style over the Hard hip-hop influenced beats create a balance that is refreshing, and gives the listener a sound that is familiar, yet new at the same time. Vocally, LaMani has a sound all their own. In an industry filled with similar voices, they are able to stand out, without trying to reinvent the musical formula.
LaMani believes that love is the greatest gift that man has, and writing about its purity and its struggle makes for music that is timeless. All the production is original material that moves within the current musical trend, but is obviously Lamani's style.
The ultimate goal is to produce and write for new, established and up and coming artist. LaMani wants to work with rap artist and show everyone how they blend rap and R&B. The best way to familiarize the world with their sound is to put out their product and get everyone buzzing about them. With that in mind, they work hard to put out good music, but strive to make great music. They write so that you can feel the lyrics and the style in your soul. They work to be the best LaMani they can be and hope that more and more people continue to appreciate what they do.
Living in the Midwest, they are able to appreciate songs and styles from both coasts, down south and all over the globe. All those styles, plus all the musical influences they each have, make LaManis approach and style one of a kind. Its not just talk.
