Writing is a passion of mine. I write everything from novels and scripts to newspaper and magazine articles. I'm also a big music lover, but since that has its own separate category I'll address that when we come to it...
I would love to meet Jesus Christ someday. I also would love to pick the brain of Jay Z, Russell Simmons, & Master P about business related-issues. And Oprah. I could spend a week picking her brain, as well as Martha Stewart. And of course Bob Johnson. I'm intrigued by self-made, filthy-rich mogul types because that's what I envision myself as someday. Other MBA's. Doctoral students (except for those who are so smart that they're stupid...I've come across that on Myspace). Industry people & any person with a positive mindset who thinks big, dreams big, and most importantly DOES IT BIG...
I looooooove music. Was raised on different types of music. I basically love any music that has soul. To me soulful music is anything that's told from the heart. That can be R&B, hip-hop, gospel, rock, jazz or even country. If I can hear a song & see into that person's soul, then I'm probably gonna dig it regardless of the genre.
I'm not a big movie person. Music is more escapism for me than movies are, so I tend to like movies that I can relate to like urban drama-dies and hood-type movies. I tend to like my movies soulful as well (notice a theme?). "Menace II Society" is one of my favorites of all-time, but one of the coolest, most soulful movies that I know is "Mo' Betta Blues".
I'm not a sitcom person, & I mostly watch news magazine-type programs & an occasional realty show...as well as basketball, football, & boxing (I love "The Contender" on ESPN). I'm also a big fan of "The Wire" and "The Sopranos". I watch & study dramas like "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI". Hopefully you'll turn on the TV one day & see an episode written by me, or better yet a TV series developed by me :-) But before I do that I need to sell more copies of my favorite book, which is...
..."Game" the novel, without a question ;-) Soulful literature at its finest. Available @ www.ELGBooks.com . , amazon.com , Barnes & Noble at the Town Center Plaza & Niecie's on 63rd street in Kansas City. Haven't copped it yet? What are you waiting for? Other than that most of the books I read are either directly school-related, or related to something that I wanna learn more about (i.e. script-development or business-building)
Man, too many to name. My father, definitely, because he gave me the blue-print on manhood & fatherhood. Also everyone that made a difference in the civil rights movement; that was a different breed back then. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Stokely Carmichael, Roy Wilkins, Thurgood Marshall, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Huey Newton, Angela Davis, Daisy Bates (my first employer & one of the most underrated civil rights figures of our time)...can't possibly name everybody, but y'all get the picture. People that paved the way for me to sit @ my computer & type what the f**k I wanna type I still live to tell about it. People that fought, & often died, for things that they knew they'd never see in their lifetime, trying to make it better for future generations. I can't say their has ever been a generation of Americans (Black or non-Black) that have sacrificed so much. Gotta luv that.
