About Me

went to a car wash in bensonhurst, bklyn about 22 years ago and bought a DJ mix cassette. from that moment on i was obsessed with djing and mixing. started out with freestyle, club, and hip-hop. progressed on to EBM, industrial and new wave. moved to fl. in 1991 and had a residency at "the village" in Melbourne. started my own night a few years later called DV-8 at "Saturdays". decided to move the night to Orlando and thus "das maschine" was born. recruited dachar from industrial bible, and fawn trivette from Melbourne. after a few weeks it was dachar and i.we were the first outside promoters to have a successful club night at Barbarella, downtown Orlando. we had a rough first month. everyone thought this was going to be your "typical" retro goth / industrial night like every other night at barbs and the castle in Tampa. SURPRISE! it was only new cutting edge EBM, industrial, and dark wave music from Europe. predominantly Germany, hence the name! the night began drawing more and more new skool peeps and gathered momentum. after a few months we booked our first show with "clan of xymox" and never looked back. vnv nation's first ever U.S. show, funker vogt's first U.S. show, and mesh's as well. we booked 45 other great shows, too many to list...of course as cultur kultur's hit song claimed "nothing belongs to you forever". the owner of Barbarella decided to sell the live court yard, back stage and bar. thus eliminating live shows at Barbarella. we continued to book shows at the social, Firestone and Cairo. eventually got tired of the attitude at barbs towards the scene by management and tired of being cheated out of money by ownership. decided to move the night to alpha bar which i knew would be the end of das maschine eventually. unfortunately, the people in this scene are NOT like other people. they can only go to one bar or club and not stray away from what they are familiar with. decided to end the night in 2003. i realized that my family is what matters most. das maschine was about the music, not the djs or promoters. we were original! did not need any gimmicks, midgets or pajama parties to get people to come out. and to the copykats, learn how to mix and read your crowd. unfortunately you can not teach timing to a dj....
R.I.P Das Maschine, i will never forget what a special time that was for me and many others. thank you to everyone who made it possible...soooo, i am naked, i have nothing left! :)
