About Me

"I felt a sense of urgency / a lion come alive in me/ in revelation of your love"...
So begins the debut release Surrendered & Untamed. This is the latest project from Jason Clark and Jeremy Cole, formerly of Fringe. Having released albums for Jesse Sprinkles (Poor Old Lu) Sad Puppy Records, Bulletproof Records, and the now defunct RA Records, Clark in particular is far from a newcomer.
Surrendered & Untamed is the obvious evolution of Fringe. Clark sounds very inspired on this record, invoking a feeling of intimacy that is very rare these days. While the band manages to create a sound all their own, certainly fans of artists like Pearl Jam, Mutemath, Coldplay, Dave Mathews Band, Frank Hart, U2, and Remy Zero will find a lot to like about Clark and Surrendered & Untamed.
The album opens with the celebratory "My Beautiful Song", which stands up to the best artistically minded musicians music has to offer. Its lyrics a study in passion and zeal. It only gets better from there, each track epic in theme and grandeur. Both lyrically and instrumentally, the album is wildly creative and builds an atmosphere of awe that lends itself to sincere worship.
What shines the most on this album is the songwriting. These are great songs; they are songs that mean something. They search, they hope, they fear, they beg for change. Bono once said that the only music worth listening to is the music made by those who are either running to or away from God and Clark and company are unquestionably running towards Him with their hearts and minds open. This album is simply astounding and will lead you as far into the presence of God as you are willing to go.

Band Members: Jason Clark, Jeremy Cole, bass...and I need to thank some of my old band mates who helped record this album. Charlie Townsend, the best guitarist ever, and Eric Perry who is like a brother and plays drums to perfection. I must add that Randy Everett who co-owns and runs Terminal Studios in Jackson MS is a true friend and genius. It was Randy who encouraged me to write and record this album and it was Randy's expertise that made it sound so good.
Influences: U2, Ryan Adams, David Gray, Coldplay, Keith Green, Radiohead, Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Sting, Phil Keaggy, Bruce Cockburn, Larry Norman, Sufjan Stevens, and a whole bunch of abstract mostly unknown artists (fill in the blank) to make me look more interesting...
Sounds Like: "...trailing flashes of brilliance, traces of Matthews and U2's influence, but mostly just great and greatly produced songs of humble strength and unique sound..." thanks mom.

Do it for the Story

It should be said that I have never really liked rules. If the rules say no running around the pool, I like to assume that they are not talking about people, who have trouble balancing, can't run or m...

I was not scared when we put on the jump suits, nor when my instructor strapped on my harness. When we got in the van I was all right. When we stood on the tarmac and my instructor ran through the det...

The Gas Attendant and 9 Other Reasons not to go to Bible College
