Think outside the box. " "I'm forbidden to parallel park in parallel universes."

About Me

People call me John Michael so I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that's my name. I am a junior at DeSoto Central High School and play saxophone in the marching band (1A and 4A Marching state champs!!). I'm a Christian and try to love everyone as He did, and still does.
I am somewhat smart, crazy, artistic, weird, different, nonconforming. I'm me. I don't expect you to be like me, and I don't expect to be like you. I'm always learning- from the insane to the mundane, right down to the basis of who I really am. We're all a work in progress, progressing more with each day...

I like to write, poetry included. Stargazing- I could sit outside for hours. I like to watch sunsets and I admire the beauty of nature.

I am into music Music is life- listening, playing, and writing. Some might say my music is different, because it is. I sing some, play piano, saxophone (alto and tenor), bass guitar, guitar, some marimba/vibraphone, and a few others. I play bass guitar in my church's worship team and this pretty much sums it up:
Psalms 33:3 "Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. " -KJV

I'd like to learn how to play upright bass (a.k.a. double bass), cello, and possibly flute. I have put together a keytar, and it's pretty sweet.
I build things. Lots of things. I always have a project going on. It's what helps keep me sane (which is somewhat paradoxical because it's part of what contributes to my insanity). My backyard is a tribute to a few dozen works-in-progress.AxC is a Joy and John Michael thing.
If you want to know, ask. I don't bite.
If you ever need any help in any way, let me know and I'll do what I can. Need a hand? I've got two.

My Interests

church, music, how things work, space, biking, Parkour, Steampunk, Medieval times, futuristic concepts (especially currently applicable ones), and many others. I like hangin with my friends and playing anything on any instrument. I love to work on out of this world projects and build things.

School is ok, until it becomes a blur of pointless crap that isn't worth learning and busy work is poured on "just because". When I go to school, I want to LEARN. For some reason that's not happening much. It is the never-ending goal of the mass educational system to suck the joy out of learning and leave us all as empty slates. I will never lose my sense of curiosity or eagerness to learn! I refuse to be another ignoramous, another drone.

Most of the greatest people were not understood by people in their time either. I'm not alone =)

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting new people. I enjoy learning about different cultures, as well as taking the time to learn from them.

Music:

-Stuff
-Christian Rock (Sanctus Real, Skillet, Audio Adrenaline...) -Electronica/Techno -Rock n' Roll (Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, ...),
-Blues (B.B. King, Los Lonely Boys, ...) -Jazz (Pros, street performers, ...)
-Classical (Bach, Beethoven, ...),
-Heavy Metal (Apocalyptica [4 cellos], no screamo)
-Classic rock (Beatles, etc),
-Celtic music (I trace ancestry back to Ireland hehe)
-Indian and Middle Eastern music, anything with sitar (Ravi Shankar, Karsh Kale, ...)
+ some.

Movies:

Anything with a storyline that makes sense.I don't go to the movies often, or watch them often either. But I see stuff from time to time. To name a few: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and lots of other good ones that I cannot think of off the top of my head.
I add to this as I go.. Awake I Am Legend Mission to Mars

Television:

NOVA, Stargate SG-1/Atlantis, House [rarely nowadays], Mythbusters, Modern Marvels, How it's Made, Meerkat Manor.. Mostly stuff on:
History Channel
History International
Science Channel
Discovery Channel, or
National Geographic Channel

I don't like drama. I feel that my life is perfectly fine without drama or having some tv show substitute it for me. We fritter our lives away in front of that screen projecting images out of someone's head because they get paid to sit and write it. They get paid because you watch it. You watch it because we have machines that do a majority of our jobs for us, hence we have free time.I'd kinda prefer to go outside or do something better with my time. I prefer to create.

Books:

The Bible, Fahrenheit 451, Anthem, The Catcher in the Rye, Artemis Fowl series, Ender's Game series, Ender's Shadow series, Old man and the Sea, and... too many others to name.

Heroes:

-Jesus

-Mahatma Gandhi
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
-Nikola Tesla
-Thomas Edison
-ordinary people who make big [good] change possible -some other folks. they may or may not know who they are.
