Special Order Items is the first novel for Virginia Tech graduate Christina A. She has lived in many parts of the United States but spent most of her formative years in Luray, Virginia. She has worked many odd jobs including a tour guide at Luray Caverns and a mouse testicle measurer* in college. After traveling Europe extensively and a brief stint in corporate America she now earns her keep by selling handmade soap online. She currently resides in Roanoke, Virginia with her husband Steve and two children Holly and Simon. Author side note: As recently as June 24, 2006, the author has become obsessed with Luna Moths.
*It is not easy to measure mouse testicles as they are very, very small. The author had to first catch the buggers then press lightly on their tiny tummies until the little gonads appeared. She then had gently wrestle the mice keep them still while she used the ridiculously small ruler to get the reading. The measurement was in millimeters.
