Show me the world as I'd love to see it

About Me

Check out my newest photo, which is ironically also the oldest, of me at 15ish posing with the very 1st "band" I was ever a part of...So, about me - a 26 year old musician. I currently write and play bass as 1/5 of a newly formed project tentatively called Domi in addition to playing and recording guitar/bass with artists in various genres of music, the bulk of which would be considered "rock"...and also to amuse myself as well as various friends' dogs. The bills get paid via a combination of my various contracted dayjobs and paltry income as a starving artist; said bills exist mostly in the form of car parts for my swedish meatballs, a 300+ bHp 1997 Saab 900 turbo and a classic 900 Turbo Coupe (currently under construction) that help further solidify my status as a reluctant yuppie. So, when I'm not at home or out being talented somewhere-or being talented while at home, I tend to work on my cars.I also enjoy travelling, even when it's not cost-effective; So far I've been to the eastern Seaboard from Connecticut to Florida, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, England, Cross-Country to Cali 3X (2 Band tours, most recently had the luxury of flying for my little holiday - see California blog) and just about half of all of these United States in between.
What kind of muscle car are you?

1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
You are a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. You love your car....your friends love your car and thats whats most important to you! Your car really hauls ass! You feel bad that they aren't making Camaros anymore....but don't worry...cuz you know they'll be back!
Take The Quiz Now! Quizzes by myYearbook.comI like to think that I do a pretty decent job of balancing the expenses inherent to such hobbies with equal amounts of thrift, though

My Interests

Music (both listening to and production of), Cars and driving them to the point that said cars require newer, rebuilt and/or better parts, Friends, Alcohol, Girls (non-crazy kind, like those one might read about in books), Firearms(safety first, Kids!), nature-GOULET!, girls (crazy kind, like those that exist primarily in the real world), sleeping, Movies (at home), not having any kids (right now), Non-Peano Arithmetic, and Nuclear Non-proliferation.

I'd like to meet:

The only caveat to this, is that meeting the real version of a person whose existence until said meeting was born exclusively of your own brain can cause horrible mental conflicts and in severe cases, spastic bleeding from orifices of the head. However, it would be simultaneously interesting and scary to meet: bizarro me; Macaulay Culkin (my quasi-celebrity birthday sibling); Tye Zamora, Colin Greenwood and Duff.

Music:

Absolutely anything released on SACD, Classical, Funk and Jazz Vinyl, Mingus, Monk, Miles, Cannonball/Nat Adderly, Herbie Hancock, almost anything (like 95%) played on WXPN (big ups to David Dye and UPENN), Radiohead, The Wailers/Bob Marley and the Wailers, Sunny Day Real Estate/the fire theft in all of its varying configurations, Jeff Buckley, Nickel Creek, Elliot Smith, Rodrigo and Gabriela, Failure, Ours, Missy Higgins, Danielia Cotton, Wilco, The Stills, My Morning Jacket, Sparta, Primus, Bjork, Muse, Assorted Wainright's, Living Colour, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins, Mr. Bungle/Faith No More, Alien Ant Farm w/Tye, Yellowcard, Pantera, Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, Alice in Chains, GNR, Phish, AC/DC, Led Zep, David Bowie, Parliament, The Roots, Gil Scott Heron/Midnight Band, NWA, Wu Tang, Erykah Badu, Outkast, Ludacris, Talib Kwali, Common, Mos Def.

Movies:

Better Off Dead, Tommy Boy, The Basketball Diaries, Trainspotting, Fight club, Big Fish, I Heart Huckabees, Anything w/Juliette lewis, Serenity, Crash, Team America: World Police (saw that one completely lit during its' opening weekend @ Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood during a break on tour - hi-LAR-ious!

Television:

Both past and present: South Park, Mythbusters, Reno 911, The Simpsons "Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true" - Homer, Strangers With Candy "You know, I cried when I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. Then I laughed...really hard."- jerri, South Park, The Critic "I have a new girlfriend for you, son. Her name is Barbie and she lives in Mali-boo. She already has a boyfriend named Ken, but he's not much of a man, [whispering]... I checked" -Franklin Sherman , Aqua Teen Hunger Force "Can someone please turn off all the sex? I'm startin' to chafe here" "Hey uh, you want some crabs? Cause I got some of them. I don't know if they're Alaskan King, but they feel huge..."- carl, Chappelle's Show, Family Guy, H.R. Pufnstuf/Lidsville, The War at Home, What's Happening?, Night Rider, Airwolf, MacGyver, Sledgehammer "Trust me, I know what I'm doing...", Dr. Katz, The State, The Sopranos + Big Love, the proliferation of car shows on spike, mtv, speed, tlc, discovery, etc. Channels: Comedy Central, History, Spike, Speed, Discovery, HBO, TvLand.

Books:

Serious Fare - "A light In August" by William Faulkner - the only book I've ever read all the way through; to this day I couldn't tell you why, I just liked it. Comic Fare - anything by "The Talent Family" aka Amy/David Sedaris...look, either you get it or you don't.

Heroes:

Being that I am a musician, let's call them admired influences, since the term "hero" is overly agrandizing and completely absurd outside the context of natural disasters and Muscular Dystrophy Telethons. Let's just say that I try to emulate the virtuosity of these individuals as appropriate: Bass - Jaco Pastorius, Aston "Family Man" Barrett, Colin Greenwood, Les Claypool, Flea, Victor Wooten, Edgar Meyer, Bootsy Collins, (Ber)'Nard Edwards, Duff McKagan, Tye Zamora. Vocals - Jeff Buckley, Thom Yorke, Robert Nesta Marley, Nickel Creek (Chris: Watkins & Thile), Vin, Rufus Wainwright, Gil Scott Heron, Tedford, Jeremy Enigk, Chris Robinson, Mike Patton, Scott Weiland, Walt, Chris Cornell. Guitar - Slash, Izzy Stradlin, John Greenwood Ed O'Brien & Thom Yorke, Jerry Cantrell, Chris Watkins, Trey Anastasio.
