Hailing from Münster/Germany, Poostew formed in 2003. Founding members Christian Veltmann (vocals), Guido Panreck (drums) and Paul Haus (guitar) started with the idea of a mixture between melodic Death and straight forward HC/Grindcore.
Playing their first shows as a trio, they were geared to such influencing bands as: Pig Destroyer, Assück & Discordance Axis.
Just in time for the first mini tour and studio time at the Kuschelrockstudio, Bremen (Acme, Mörser, Systral), Thomas Schindler (guitar) showed up as second guitar player. 11 songs were recorded, and before Poostew had time to send out their Demo to labels, they were offered a deal for a Split 7“ (on the DIY-Label “Licht-Ung“) at a show. These recordings were then distributed in place of a demo tape.
In 2004, these songs, along with the other recordings from their first recording session, were used to release a DIY Split CD with “Ripped 2 Shreds“. Duing this time, a long time friend, Tim Börsting (bass), decided to join the band, thus completing the Poostew line-up.
This addition in the line-up also brought about a change in their style of music which developed into music in the vein of Misery Index, Uphill Battle and The Black Dahlia Murder.
Poostew visited the Kuschelrockstudio for the second time, and recorded their first full length. “Struggle“ was released in Summer 2005 on Poostew`s new found label “Morde Chai Records / React with Protest“ (Buried Inside, La Quiete & Raein).
That same year, they headed out on their first headline tour through Denmark and their support tour for He Who Corrupts. Later that year Thomas Schindler had to leave Poostew due to personal reasons. The release of their first full length also drew the attention of major magazines and fanzines and opened the door for a deal on “Silent Stagnation Records“ (Japanische Kampfhörspiele, Unholy & Fear My Thoughts).
This resulted in a Split CD with “Japanische Kampfhörspiele“ which was recorded in the Absence Stuidos, Dortmund (Krisiun, Deadsoil & Caliban).
2006 has been a busy year for Poostew, Tim Börsting had to leave the band due to his studies just in time for their Split CD release in March 2006. The founding members, Veltmann, Panreck & Haus visited the Third A Studio, Hamburg (Yacöpsae) once again as a trio to record their second full length “Plutocracy“. Duing their studio time, some guest vocals were recorded by the “Yacöpsae“ singer “Stoffel“ and “Japanische Kampfhörspiele“ singer Andreas Paul.
Poostew finished their recordings end of July and found a new bass player in Felix Michalowsky. Plutocracy was released in December 2007 through Silent Stagnation and Poostew headed out on their second headline tour through Denmark & Germany - playing some of their most intense shows.
2008 started with some kick ass shows - until some serious problems clouded over Poostew: Guido Panreck had to leave the band due to physical problems and the disunion with Silent Stagnation due to financial discrepancies. A new Drum Player was found soon with Asgard Niels (ex Holy Moses & Irate Architect) and Poostew where able to play their booked gigs such as the "Death Feast" in Hünxe.
Later that year Poostew visited the Third A Studio, Hamburg to record a ten minute Song whose release is not yet confirmed...
Poostew already shared the stage all over europe with bands like:
Misery Index, Origin, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nasum, Cephalic Carnage, Napalm Death, Leng Tche, Aborted, Krisiun, Immolation, Rotten Sound, Gorgasm, Wormed, Mucopus, Putrid Pile, Buried Inside, Sayyadina, Hewhocorrupts, Japanische Kampfhörspiele, Mörser, As We Fight, Maroon, Deadsoil, Caliban, and numerous more.
