Born Jerome Cushnie in North York, Ontario in November 1985, the young emcee known as Duke Finesse is armed with his lyrical weaponry, and embarking upon a trailblazing career to greatness. Duke Finesse was a promising high school basketball star. Rapping was his hobby and he had aspirations of having a basketball career until he got into a car accident in the Summer of 2004. Due to the onset of the sustained injuries, Duke Finesse felt compelled to relinquish his "basketball dreams" and devote his energy to cultivate his hobby. Duke Finesse firmly believes, "You have to know in your gut that music is what you are meant to do!" The true embodiment of an enterprise, Duke Finesse is a motivational speaker, artist, producer, song writer, performer and business owner. With his innate ability to initiate change, and acknowledging the plight of today’s youth, he has created a movement of enlightenment and empowering youth to persist through adversity. Duke Finesse event planned and hosted “STEPS†(Showcasing the Endless Possibilities of Scarborough) in May of 2007 and was the motivational speaker at the YOUCAN organization conference in Ottawa in 2007. His ultimate goal is to start his own non-profit organization in performing arts for youth in Priority neighborhoods in Toronto. Duke Finesse founded Scarcity Entertainment independent record label in Toronto in 2004. “With this natural inspiration to create music that I possess I have the drive to overcome barriers I might face in the hip hop industry and, on the Scarcity Entertainments road to successâ€, Duke Finesse.
