Conscious yet street, political yet grimey, raw yet polished. Silent Militia is a trio that stands by its own in more ways than one. Combining street tales, black history, social awareness, and spirituality with superior lyricism enveloped by head nodding flows. Their sound is distinct and fresh yet brings back that classic hip hop feel. ............................................................ ............................................Consisting of Truck Diesel, Suspect and Iron Liver all three members were born and raised in Toronto, Canada. While Truck and Suspect are blood brothers, Iron Liver and Truck have shared a close bond since becoming friends in middle school. Though the trio shares a deep rooted chemistry and understanding of each other there are some distinct personality traits which differentiate themselves from one another. The most outspoken and cerebral of the bunch would be Truck Diesel, while Iron Liver takes on a more rugged approach and Suspect – the youngest of the group – chooses a laid back no nonsense demeanor. ............................................................ ................................................Though they were only formed and started rapping in 2007 it only takes a single listen for one to respect Silent Militia’s validity. Various issues and conflicts such as the death of close family and friends, run-ins with the law, teenage fatherhood and social injustice perpetuate the realness in each track that they lay down. Unlike many others who rap for financial gain, fame and material possession’s Silent Militia is rapping for a cause and with a purpose. Citing influence’s such as Malcolm X, Che Guevara, The Black Panthers, Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey just to name a few. Future goals for the group include moving forward with a powerful movement inside and outside of hip hop that promotes social and historic awareness, spiritual understanding as well as economic independence. ............................................................ ..................................................Released early this year 2008 and receiving high critical praise was the raw underground classic Iron Fist Chronicles Vol.1. Wasting no time the group is set to release Iron Fist Chronicles Vol. 2 which is bound to send waves through the hip hop community. No doubt rebels with a cause, Silent Militia looks to be a prominent force in and out of hip hop, stay tuned.
