The Best Is Yet To Come!!!

About Me

CHRISHAWN J. CALLOWAY. Graduated from Baltimore City College High School (c/o '91). Received B.S. in Elementary Education/Liberal Arts from Coppin State College. Completed master's degree in special education at Goucher College. Currently teaching middle school mathematics for Baltimore City Public Schools. Plans to earn doctorate in mathematics and special education. Would like to one day start my own mathematics/music/sports school for inner city youth and call it "The Mathletix Academy." I am currently the 3rd Vice President of the National Council of Negro Women, Greater Baltimore Section (2006-2008). I have served as a faithful member of The Empowerment Temple, A.M.E. Church under Pastor Jamal Harrison-Bryant ever since 2002.I AM A HUGE FAN OF GREAT MUSIC THE ARTS. I've had opportunities to sing on many choirs and do background vocals for local and famous artists. I currently serve as a member of a small gospel/contemporary ensemble, Annointed to Minister (ATM). When serving as a member of the Maryland Mass Choir, my most memorable experience was having the opportunity to do background vocals for four of my favorite artists; James Ingram, Stephanie Mills, Peabo Bryson, and Deniece Williams in "Colors of Christmas" at the Hippodrome in Baltimore. Imagine that!!! I've also been involved in various theatrical productions, and have starred in some. One being the role of Dorothy in "The Wiz" in college. Some theater projects include one of the leading roles in Christina Stansbury's "More Than Conquerors (along with Native Son and Bro. Calvin)," and laying background vocals for Howard G's "Love Thy Neighbor." I've also done some background vocals for Wilbur Nichols and Redeemed on his CD project. My life involves me making a difference in the lives of inner-city youth, networking, singing/songwriting, acting, being active in the community, supporting talents and organizations, getting inspired, being an inspiration, helping others, being loveable me. GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FULFILL SO MANY DREAMS AND HE STILL CONTINUES TO PLACE VISIONS IN MY PATH SO THAT I COULD HAVE MORE DREAMS TO FULFILL. HE LETS ME KNOW THAT HE'S NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET, SO THOSE THINGS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED REQUIRES PATIENCE. I THANK HIM FOR ALL OF HIS MANY BLESSINGS AND THE ONES THAT ARE YET TO COME.

My Interests

I AM A TAURUS... which means I love the earth. My favorite color is hunter green, but I love all earthtones. I also love wearing black and just started to realize how cute I look in white (at least that's what they tell me). I am addicted to the following things: singing, shopping, movies, plays/theater, traveling, concerts, nature walks, decorating my home. I love to teach children math and chess and how it relates to the real world. I am currently the only female chess coach in Bmore and teach chess to youth through the YMCA as well as the young men in the juvenile detention center. I have lead my chess students at the Y to 1st place in our city-wide chess tournament. Going out on dates is really fun. I was born in May, so 80-degree sunny weather is perfect and always puts me in a good mood. I spend a lot of time doing things for me. Oh yeah, and I love butterflies. My favorite icon to use to represent me would be a butterfly, a microphone, an apple (teacher), a musical note, or a bull (Taurus). I love spoiling myself, and being spoiled by someone else. I am rotton to the core and believe me, it shows.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with the last name "Calloway," anyone with the last name "Smith," "Carr," or "Sparrow" and from Annapolis, MD (if so, we're related); I'd like to meet G. Garvin (met him already), Tony Momrelle of Incognito (you're next), Coultrain, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Wonder's background singer, Keith John, V (backup singer for Jill Scott), Troop (so that I could thank them for putting out one of my favorite songs, "Spread My Wings"), Danny Glover (I hear he's the coolest), George Clinton (cuz I stayz grounded in da funk), Tom Joyner, Sanaa Lathan, Angela Bassett, Mary J., Jada Smith, Quincy Jones, Nona Gaye, Jill Scott, Denzel, Muhammad Ali, Hon. Louis Farrakhan, Dick Gregory, Herbie Hancock, all the old school rappers so that we could have a bombin' ol' school block party, any leaders/favorite entertainers of whom I have not met yet...list goes on. I have met quite a few people already. Generally, I'd like to meet people who are inspirations to me. I like to be around positive influences...folks who are doing something for themselves as well as others... .... ..I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!

Music:

..MUSIC IS MY DISIAC!!! Yes, I am a music junkie. I love old school music. Old school hip hop/classics, soul/neosoul, the old school style of gospel with some good sangin', jazz, house music. Good music is enough to make me glad I'm alive. Independent artists are always my favorite. All of them are inspirations to me, especially those who are my personal friends. I currently have an entertainment company that I'm developing called "Take Flight Entertainment." I do promotions, booking, and artist development. God allows me to learn something new all the time about this business. Look out for Take Flight Entertainment. I stepped out on faith with this, and suddenly chose to run with it. I realize that I have lots of work to do, still. THANK YOU, GOD, FOR ALLOWING ME TO TAKE THE BUMPY ROAD!!!Growing up with a strong passion for music, I've learned to study and appreciate the voice. In my lifetime, I've discovered many singers who I feel have the best voices. I should not try to list them all because the list is forever. Heroes:

My late great-grandmother who was probably one of the best businesswomen ever. Her name is Elizabeth Carr. She owned Carr's Beach in Annapolis. It was the only beach for blacks in the Maryland area back in the 40's 50's and 60's. She had shows there that featured most of the greatest entertainers in history. I think this is where my passion comes from. Sparrows Beach was owned by my aunt, her sister. Other heros/sheros include Dr. Dorothy Height, Mary McLeod Bethune, Coretta Scott King, Ruby Dee, Muhammad Ali, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne. My parents, my grandparents, my godparents, my "big sisters" from GBS-NCNW, my "sister-sisters" (you know who you are), my 2 big-headed brothers, my uncles, my "aunties and uncles" who are there for me like blood relatives.
