I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm 47, and have been married to the military for the last 15 years. While I enjoy this slightly nomadic lifestyle, it will be great to to put down some roots and not move every 3 to 4 years!! I'm already looking at blueprints for my home, if and when, WE actually settle down. I'm a Nana now, I can't wait to be closer to my grandson, so I can spoil him rotten! I love animals, if I could I would have a zoo.!Right now,I'll have to settle for a dog. I love to cook, but hate to clean up after. I like sushi, fresh spring rolls, any kind of cheese, and oh yes, that perfectly seasoned and grilled rare steak. Salmon caught and grilled over hot coals on the same day, divine! (Trust me on this, take a fishing trip in AK, you'll never be satisfied with what you buy in the grocery store!) Since I've been in the UK, I've developed quite an interest in antiques, old photos, stories from WW2, buildings that are centuries old... I'm working in healthcare here, not in the field that I enjoyed in the US, but, it's still personally rewarding. I get to learn so much, not just skills, I get to learn a different culture, and I enjoy it. I hope my "mates" enjoy it too! I really hope that they will look back on the days of working with me with fond memories, I know that they have taught me much more than just how to do my job, they have made me feel at home, and made me feel that I belong. For that, I'm very thankful, God Bless them all. I love them! I guess they love me too, I've never woke up in a Waitrose trolley in Market Square, ...yet!!!

My Interests

Anything to do with the outdoors, especially viewing wildlife, I've seen a moose in my front yard, a black bear in my garbage can, pigeons in a nest in the apple tree in my backyard, swans in the pond, and eagles and beavers after my catch! .I love road trips, as long as I'm not too rushed and can stop when I want to see something! I like fishing, if the fish are biting. I love camping and plan to buy a RV when I retire, just to travel around and see the country. Wouldn't that be nice?

I'd like to meet:

Well, I'd love to run into Sean Connery in London! Seriously, I get homesick quite often, so I'd welcome a line or two from anyone in AR or AK, or anyone I've lost contact with in the last decade or two! And, I would like to make new friends here in the UK.

Music:

Almost any kind, well, no polka for me!Seriously, my IPod is eclectic!

Movies:

Braveheart Kingdom of Heaven, American Beauty, Sin City, etc... The classics, From Here to Eternity, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, All the old Horror movies, who could forget Bela Lugosi?! A couple of old miniseries that I love are Winds of War, War & Remembrance, and my favorite love story, The ThornBirds.

Television:

I love the series "Men in Trees", Deal or no Deal, umm, can't think of anything much, people who think the medical dramas are cool should rethink it,when is the last time you saw a handsome doc? Well., Dr. Levy in Anchorage, okay, but, he's probably not there anymore!

Books:

Stephen King(the old novels), Brian Lumley, and some of the romance novelists like Nora Roberts. I enjoy historical romances if the heroines are strong

Heroes:

The servicemembers, old and young, US and allies, and I'd have to add their family members and loved ones, not enough can be said about their sacrifices. Anyone who can find a way to help out these people,no matter how small, deserves a gold star by their name!My mother, who was true to her character until her very end, my dad, who is still plugging along, my son, Michael, who always told me he'd be okay, Thank God, he is okay. My husband Eric, who always tells me we're okay, and we are. I think my heroes are still the families of the brave young women and men of the military, Let's not forget about them!
