I suppose I could change the "About Me" section quite frequently, since I, myself, seem to change quite frequently. I'm just trying to make sure that it's always an upgrade of some kind.
Okay...about me....
I believe:
~ that life should be full of diversity. Interesting friends, interesting interests...who cares if the people around you agree with your thinking? If they don't...find new people to be around.~ that love is of upmost importance. First, love yourself. If you don't, you can't really love anyone else. Second, be true to the people that you do love. Make sure that they know you are there for them and that they are in your heart.
~ that just because you love someone, it doesn't mean that they are good for you. This goes for friends, lovers, whatever. If you find that the people you love make you stop loving yourself, you need to step away.
~ the most important job you can ever have in your life is being a parent -- to your own children, or maybe even someone else's children. With this in mind, I think a lot of people make a huge mistake by "forgetting" what it was like for them to be a kid/teenager. I made a lot of mistakes growing up that I want my kids to learn from so they don't repeat. I don't think admitting that I did something bad is the same as condoning it. What it can be is a great way to start a conversation, maybe about something that your child might not be comfortable talking to you about until they realize that you used to be "human" before you became a "parent".
~ in the Universal Mind. Or God. Or the Goddess. Or whatever you may call your higher power. I believe in eternity. As an eternal being, I believe that I have the option of returning again for more experiences, or that I can choose to be reabsorbed into God. I'm willing to talk about it to those who are interested, but I'm not a scary, freaky person either. I believe in the powers of the earth. I'm extremely spiritual, but not at all religious. I pray a LOT. I expect and GET answers.
~ that self-expression shouldn't be limited. If you want to dance, sing, act, paint, write...put out what is in YOUR heart! As a belly dancer, I've gotten some grief about not being true to a cultural "style". I mix Turkish, Egyptian and other world dance styles into something that allows me to express my heart and my spirit. To appease the "belly dance police", I have self-tagged my style as "American Caberet Inspired Interpretive Fusion". :D Some people consider my style to be Goddess Dance or Raks Gothique (Gothic Belly Dance - not all dark and scary, just more expressive and interpretive). Whatever it may be, I LOVE doing whatever it is I do.
~ that you must believe in yourself. It will get you through those days when it seems absolutely no one else does. And we all have those "days", no matter how blessed our life is.
