Life is a daring adventure, or nothing.

About Me

..

I suppose I could change the "About Me" section quite frequently, since I, myself, seem to change quite frequently. I'm just trying to make sure that it's always an upgrade of some kind.

Okay...about me....

I believe:

~ that life should be full of diversity. Interesting friends, interesting interests...who cares if the people around you agree with your thinking? If they don't...find new people to be around.
~ that love is of upmost importance. First, love yourself. If you don't, you can't really love anyone else. Second, be true to the people that you do love. Make sure that they know you are there for them and that they are in your heart.
~ that just because you love someone, it doesn't mean that they are good for you. This goes for friends, lovers, whatever. If you find that the people you love make you stop loving yourself, you need to step away.
~ the most important job you can ever have in your life is being a parent -- to your own children, or maybe even someone else's children. With this in mind, I think a lot of people make a huge mistake by "forgetting" what it was like for them to be a kid/teenager. I made a lot of mistakes growing up that I want my kids to learn from so they don't repeat. I don't think admitting that I did something bad is the same as condoning it. What it can be is a great way to start a conversation, maybe about something that your child might not be comfortable talking to you about until they realize that you used to be "human" before you became a "parent".
~ in the Universal Mind. Or God. Or the Goddess. Or whatever you may call your higher power. I believe in eternity. As an eternal being, I believe that I have the option of returning again for more experiences, or that I can choose to be reabsorbed into God. I'm willing to talk about it to those who are interested, but I'm not a scary, freaky person either. I believe in the powers of the earth. I'm extremely spiritual, but not at all religious. I pray a LOT. I expect and GET answers.
~ that self-expression shouldn't be limited. If you want to dance, sing, act, paint, write...put out what is in YOUR heart! As a belly dancer, I've gotten some grief about not being true to a cultural "style". I mix Turkish, Egyptian and other world dance styles into something that allows me to express my heart and my spirit. To appease the "belly dance police", I have self-tagged my style as "American Caberet Inspired Interpretive Fusion". :D Some people consider my style to be Goddess Dance or Raks Gothique (Gothic Belly Dance - not all dark and scary, just more expressive and interpretive). Whatever it may be, I LOVE doing whatever it is I do.
~ that you must believe in yourself. It will get you through those days when it seems absolutely no one else does. And we all have those "days", no matter how blessed our life is.

My Interests

- Elvis Costello Lyrics ..

I'm a very spiritual person and working hard to become more so. I am trying to find my place within the Universal Mind.

My passion is belly dance and I use it as both a creative and emotional outlet. I've recently gotten back into yoga. I like learning about holistic health and alternative medicine.

I'm interested in trying to be a better version of who I am. Not a different person, though, because I like who I am already, I just know that there is still a lot of room for growth.

I love working with kids and not long ago was introduced to the concept of the Indigo and Crystal children. I want to make a positive and lasting impact on the kids I work with.

I'd like to meet:

I'd love to meet other belly dancers and musicians. I'd also like to meet people who share similar interests, or are just interesting. I'm happy to add the kids of my friends or the friends of my kids, but keep in mind that I am my own person, and nothing I say or do should reflect on my kids. If I find out you harrass them cuz their mom is a freak, I'll delete you. lol

I can be a bit on the "fetishy" side, so if you have alternative interests, that's okay. BUT..I am NOT looking to meet submissives who are looking for a Goddess to serve, or emotionally needy people. Yeah, I know, how mean. lol I enjoy people who enjoy themselves and don't carry around a chip on their shoulder, or anywhere else, for that matter. I don't want to meet people who just want to "add" me to their list so they can pump up their volume of friends.

You are a unicorn! You feel quite ordinary, but there is one thing about you that others love and that one thing makes you, you. You like being with others of your kind, but hide from things that are new or strange to you. You are very peaceful and calm and often lose track of time. You daydream a lot. You like a lot of cheerful colors.

Music:

I like all kinds of music, but I don't really listen to country. I'm more of an alternative/punk girl...anywhere from the 70's through current. I've been known to do some serious head banging and can still do it without falling over, although my neck might be a bit stiff the next day.

For dance, I like anything that allows me to express myself in the moment. Could be middle eastern, but doesn't have to be. I can dance to anything.

I really like music with something to say. I like lyrics and songs that mean something. It's like a gift.

Movies:

I don't watch too many movies but have recently really enjoyed "The Secret" , "August Rush", and "Enchanted". Favorite movies include "Labyrinth" and "The Princess Bride". I tend to go happier, not necessarily sappier, but a good horror flick gets me going now and then, too. I especially like vampires.

Television:

Haven't had cable since the beginning of the year and haven't really missed it. I like to watch Law and Order and have a new love for Scrubs.

Books:

I've been reading a lot of books about spiritual development and personal growth. Like I said...trying to be a better version of me.

Heroes:

My sister, Tricia, who went through a lot and came out better than ever. My grandmother, who clothed her brothers and sisters with the American flag. Women who know who they are and aren't afraid to show it, but still manage to keep the chip off their shoulder. People who put other people before themselves without question.
