I am here for Friends

About Me

Mitchell says that I just attract catastrophic events. I think he's right.
I sling drinks for a living, and get into barfights for fun.
I'm loud and dramatic.
I will never admit that I'm wrong, even if I'm shown concrete proof that I am.
Details will be the death of me, one day.
I'm a smartass, a cynic, and a little bit jaded. I only own one pair of girl shoes, but I collect big, stompy boots. I also collect records, comic books, and mistakes. I snort when I laugh. I've seen Labyrinth more than a hundred times. I'm good at unrequited crushes, drinking more than I should, writing letters that I'll never send, and making you wish you'd never met me. I am an enigma in thirty-one syllables, and a mess that you'll want to try to clean up.
I'm a little catastrophe, coming unraveled in dive bars all over town.
I write my manifesto in a crowded, smoky room and I wait. Always, I am waiting. For a word, a sign... For something to let me know that all of this waiting has not been in vain.
I trust people until I'm proven wrong. My feelings are easily (and often) hurt. Sometimes I hold a grudge, sometimes I don't. I like movies that make me cry, and talking about the book I'll probably never finish.I'm unreasonably proud of my Irish heritage, and will use it as an excuse for all sorts of completely unacceptable behavior. I am terrible at returning phone calls and emails, and am always at least fifteen minutes late. I am also unreasonably (but completely) terrified of Bootsy Collins. Especially that "Groove Is In The Heart" thing he did with Dee-Lite.
I don't like the color orange, people who confuse your/you're and their/there/they're, mushrooms, olives, bright lights, or tequila. I fall down a lot. I like dumb jokes.
I quote movies and music often, but most people either don't catch it or don't get the references. None of my tattoos are finished. I have ticket stubs that are ten years old. I still sleep with a teddy bear.

My Interests

Sleep, beer, books, guitars, politics, and art. Things (or people) that are broken. Things that I can break, things that I can fix. Hiding. Trains, tellings stories, and making a mess. Good coffee, strange movies, weird dreams, pretty girls, places I've never been, people I've never met. Running away from my mistakes. Diversionary tactics. Not telling everything I know, acting, causing a scene, and leaving things behind.

I'd like to meet:

"I wash my hands of those who imagine chattering to be knowledge, silence to be ignorance, and affectation to be art."
--Kahlil Gibran
