About Me

my sister Briana wrote this for her Midwifery Goals on this application she is sending in. I really like it and hope you do, too. "I want to be a midwife who respects the significance of birth for all the people who are involved. First, for the infant, who is a conscious participant with emotions and vulnerable suggestibility. Second, for the mother who is going through a physically, emotionally and socially transforming experience. Third for the father or partner who may undergo any of the same experiences as the mother or child in addition to being a helpless observer in a unique role reversal with his partner. And finally, other family members or friends in attendance who may experience fear, elation, spiritual discovery or connection, trauma, overpowering emotion, or a combination of the above. I want to be the kind of midwife who is focused on the individual, and the unique experience of each particular person. This is the kind of midwife I want to have at my births and that is why I want to fill this niche."
