Little Lisa

I'm old-fashioned.

About Me

I don't need anyone. Lately, I feel like this color yellow. The following defines me: "So she had to satisfy herself with the idea of love - loving the loving of things whose existence she didn't care at all about. Love itself became the object of her love. She loved herself in love, she loved loving love, as love loves loving, and was able, in that way, to reconcile herself with a world that fell so short of what she would have hoped for. It was not the world that was the great and saving lie, but her willingness to make it beautiful and fair, to live a once-removed life, in a world once-removed from the one in which everyone else seeemed to exist." --Everything Is Illuminated

Things were simpler then.

My brother Robert and I were best friends when we were kids. One time, we found a dead mouse on the cul de sac we lived on. Gingerly, Robert pinched its limp tail in between his fingers, arm impossibly...

You don't know what love is.

Today I felt more myself than I have in a long time. I can't pinpoint why. I think it was because I played Petula Clark's "Downtown" in the newsroom and shimmied my little heart out. (Then I put on Th...

I wish I had an evil twin.

I'm 21-and-a-half today. I celebrated by driving to Heber at sun-up with Regan, Carl, Britt and Brett, for Jennie's mission farewell. Her dad was there. He looked like Carl only 30 years older. They h...
