Hi, Im Cara-Jane. Im 27, from sunny Stevenage (A town which should be sectioned under the mental health act).So how did I get started with all this music malarky?Well, for a few years my folks ran a couple of pubs in the town, after one of my many gigs in the bathroom, singing to the mirror my mum (bless her!!!) suggested I should actually sing to an audience, she talked me into singing at the karaoke she was putting on, against my better judgment I went along with her and said yes, I was 14 and I was sh*ting myself!!! I scraped through a rendition of Unchained Melody, got a decent round of applause, got off stage, ran up stairs, cried and said "Im never doing that again", but it was too late, I had been bitten by the bug, and Music became my life. For a short time I became the uncrowned princess of Karaoke (shame, knows my name!!!) While all this was going on, I was listening to some very decent music (check out my influences) and decided, if I was gonna sing, I might as well sing my own songs, I invested in a really crappy acoustic guitar for £10 off a mate, taught myself to play (It shows!!!) and at 15, started turning my poetry into songs.For a while, I was gigging in pubs and clubs, performing mainly covers and making a pretty good living, but in Febuary 2003,I was spotted gigging By Dan Andrews, and was asked to join a well established local Ska Band, I jumped at the chance, leaving behind the well paid cover gigs to give the band 110%, which I did gladly, I had some wicked experiences with the band and got to perform with Ska legends, Bad Manners and The Beat, but due to shoddy band politics!!! Myself, the drummer (Dan Andrews) and the Lead guitarist (Del Vierra) left the band in November 2005 and we decided to put together another band, one less like a dictatorship!!!We did a couple of gigs as The Dromadors, as a 3 piece, which were well received, But we were on the hunt for a bass player...Luckily, we struck gold when Luke Stevens, (from local band, Hooverhead - in my top friends), saw our add and asked to get involved which he did, And....THE DEFEKTERS, Were born!!!. You can check us out in my top friends...I can also be seen to go out gigging with me and me guitar,(not the same crappy £10 one, I invested in 12 years ago, although I still have her, but a shiney black semi acoustic I call, Caleb) and we have a grand old time. I have just finished a Degree in Theatre, with Performing Arts,and passed with a 2:1 (Not bad!!!), So now Im gonna focus on my Music...VIVA LA MUSIC!!! MyGen Profile GeneratorSlideshow...!!!
