Yann Solo

Parisian born and bred Yann Solo is 27 and got into mixing techno in 1997 and was heavily influenced by Jeff Mills and was a regular at the ever famous Rex club absorbing the energies thrown at crowds by all the top techno jocks week in week out, " i used to watch all the djs in the booth and jeff mills is just amazing when i saw what he did behind the decks, i thought... i want to do that". The vinyl addiction began.... a set of decks, mixer, amp etc was purchaced and yann closed himself off form the rest of the world in order to master the skills he needed in order to present the music he loved to the world. He began spinning in little 'soiées', house parties, and techno gatherings in and around paris, and people quickly began to take note of the style this young man was playing.In 2001 he started a residency on the concord atlantic (a very nifty little boat party on the river seine) under the name of dj ian.He by now had slowed his techno groove down somewhat to a very funky tech house groove. In 2004 his interests in actually making the grooves rather than just spinning them took hold and he began producing music with friends at his home in Paris. Also in 2004 he met up with Alan Barratt at a party in paris and not long after partying and mixing together they also began laying down beats and grooves together.In october 2005 yann finished his resindency on the concord atlantic and started a new residency at-the Vinyl club in paris where he continues to spin a more funky tribal progressive sound with more of an edge. He continues his music production at his home in paris winning contracts with labels such as - 'evasive records', '4Kenzo', Hoshi' and 'New Era Recordings'
