About Me

Australian singer/songwriter Steve Clark gained international prominence during the 80s and 90s with Australian Indie rock band "Died Pretty", as bass player and songwriter including the co-written single D.C, from the critically acclaimed album "Dough Boy Hollow" (nominated for two ARIA awards - 'Best Independent Album' and 'Best Independent Album Cover'). D.C was the bands first cross over hit gaining mainstream radio airplay and appearing on the 2-JJJ Top 100, while Dough Boy Hollow voted in the Rolling Stone magazine top 40 and Sydney Morning Herald music critics' Top 100 Classic Australian albums of all time. After the release of Dough Boy Hollow Steve moved on to pursue a solo career.
In 1994, Steve never one to conform to the norm resurfaced as a solo artist releasing an E.P "All the Stars" on Matt Dicksons jazz label Spiral Scratch records. All the Stars received good airplay on 2-JJJ radio and the video directed by Craig Slattery was aired on SBS TVs Nomad and ABC TVs RAGE.
In 2003, Steve's debut album was released called "Where the River meets the Sea" on Endgame records, which garnered critical acclaim and global radio airplay from Sydney's coolest radio station 2FBI and crossed the globe to other stations such as Paris FM (France), and went top 30 on Italian L' altraRadio Network (Italy).

" Where the River meets the Sea , is a thing of limpid
beauty indeed, and a real pleasure to sit back and
immerse oneself in" Drum Media Nov 2003

Italian Album review (in Italian) in Succo Acido for "Where the River meets the Sea".
John McPharlin ( http://www.i94bar.com/reviews/steveclark.html)
“Standout tracks are the opening, morbidly melancholy "Blue", "Cross This River"; the soaring, shimmering "Close"; the slightly countryish "Hollywood", which recalls Paul Kelly, both in musical style and in the narrative nature of the lyrics and the closing, transcendent "Higher Love". Shit, that's more than half the album!”
Brian Stradbrook ( http://www.lunakafe.com/moon85/au85.php)
Backing vocalist and occasional co-writer Chiara Browne imbues Where the Rivers Meets the Sea with much romance and beauty. This is especially evident on the outstanding "Cross This River". The strong narrative and country chug of "Hollywood" brings a slight playfulness to the album and with its earthy style and hard-won wisdom sounds as though it could've been lifted straight off a Spencer Jones album. "Higher Love" closes the album in a particularly stunning way and the backing vocals provided by Rachel Holmshaw adds much to the track's soaring qualities.
In November 2005, Steve moved publishers from Mushroom music whom he had been with since Died Pretty and signed with Sony/ATV.Currently, Steve is working on the follow up second album, as yet to be titled.
" Where the River meets the Sea , is available for purchase from iTunes.
