Life is a game... glad I play for a living!

About Me

Jonathan was born in Inglewood, CA. He is the 4th child of 6. Travel and trials have been part of his life from a very early age. His oldest brother (Christopher) died at age 6, and although Jonathan was too young to remember, he still felt the impact on his family. Jonathan moved extensively while growing up, taking him from one coast to the other, and just about everywhere in between.Jonathan found music out of a need to be seen and heard. His now oldest brother Matthew played guitar and would sing songs for the neighbor kids (girls) and was getting the attention that Jonathan wished he had. He asked his folks for a guitar so he could share the attention with his rival sibling. “If you learn how to play everything that your brother can, we’ll know you’re serious and you can get a guitar.” Jonathan asked to borrow his brother’s guitar and he locked himself in a room for the weekend and that’s all it took to prove he had talent. Jonathan’s other older brother Daniel, had always been interested in the drums, banging on everything from coffee cans to cardboard boxes from an early age. It was a band in the making. However, Matthew already played guitar, and Daniel was the drummer, so the only thing left to round out the band was bass. Six months before his 15th birthday Jonathan took on the task as he began teaching himself to play bass by listening to records. Their first professional gig was on Jonathan’s 15th birthday for a private party at Bower’s Mansion just outside of Reno, Nevada. The band was off and running playing casinos, parties, talent shows, and anywhere they could find a gig!The band was good. Jonathan’s parents decided to take them on the road. The next 5 years were spent traveling all over the Pacific Northwest with the seven-member Clark family (that’s right, still traveling) playing the Top-40 club scene. Upon arriving back in Southern California, the “Family Band” parted ways and Jonathan, not wanting to go into any other profession, began playing bass guitar with cover bands around the L.A. area. His talent and local recognition took him out of clubs scene and into bigger venues where he began playing and singing with artists such as Glen Frey, Joe Walsh, Christopher Cross, Don Henley, Michael McDonald, Laura Brannigan, Peter Cetera and Carlene Carter. Not wanting to just be the backup for fellow artists’ careers, Jonathan began pursuing his own dream: to be a successful singer/songwriter. He continued developing his skills and honing his unique mastery of the acoustic guitar. He started getting more and more work as a vocalist as well as voice over work and has contributed to the last 9 Dwight Yoakam recordings. His voice has been a part of the advertising world for many years in commercials for Coors, Coors Light, Fruit Of The Loom and Kingsford Charcoal. Additionally, he started writing songs not only for himself but also for film and television. His music can be heard in the films “Blind Side," “Neowolf," and the new Universal film “Who’s Your Monkey?"Jonathan’s early influences, The Eagles, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Peter Gabriel and Bad Company, have inspired the soulful, melodic songwriting style that has been capturing a steady fan base in recent years. His upcoming CD “7:50” will be available along with his first video, directed by Gary Oldman, in April 2008.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
