I am here for Friends

About Me

For those old acquaintences who want to spend 30 seconds finding out what I've been up to since high school before forgetting about me again, here you go. Went to University of Mary~Hardin Baylor for a year. Ran out of money. Joined the Air Force (I'm not a pilot. I fix computers). Spent two years in Italy drinking coffee. Spent two years in Germany drinking beer. Spent two and a half years in Hawaii drinking things with little umbrellas in them. I separated from the military and am now in Austin drinking Shiner Bock. I haven't fallen codependently in love with anyone or had any kids...nor do I ever want to.

My Interests

I'm interested in kids getting off my damn lawn, living in a country with a secular government, being able to eat food from the grocery store without wondering what kind of cancer it's going to give me, Pink Floyd releasing more albums because God knows the music of today sucks, school teaching students how to think, Heineken, the end of television, public space travel, figuring out what my next tattoo will be

I'd like to meet:

Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Samuel Vimes, Siddartha, Donatello (the Ninja Turtle), Bettlejuice, Doc Brown, The Dude, Noam Chomsky, and any other real person who thinks.

Music:

Tom Waits, Richard Cheese, The Ghettobillies, Devil Dolls, Bowling for Soup, Apocaliptica, The Darkness, Flogging Molly, Robbie Williams, Ween, The Format, Keb Mo, Sarah McLachlan, Pink Floyd, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, IZ,

Movies:

Rockula, Casablanca, Pi, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smocking Barrels, Boondock Saints, Tango and Cash, Big Trouble in Little China, The Last Dragon, Cube, Never Ending Story, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, The Big Lebowski, Bettlejuice

Television:

I'm that guy with no TV.

Books:

anything by Neil Gaimon, Terry Pratchett, or Robert Heinlein, some stuff by Orson Scott Card

Heroes:

In order to look up to someone else you have to look down on your self.

My Blog

remind me again. why do we ride?

Here recently I took my motorcycle for a 4,000+ mile road trip from Austin, TX to Rapid City, SD to see an old military buddy from Italy who I haven't seen in about 5 years. Before hitting the road I...

Lost and Found

you may already be a winner

I had a conversation with a guy a long time ago. I don't remember who it was with or what it was about, but I remember I said something that made the guy chuckle, and he said, "You're cool." But he di...

why your boss sucks

I find it amazing that certain insights to life can be  blatantly obvious to one person and as mysterious and uncomprehendable as subatomic physics to another person. Makes me wonder what I don't...

the reasons for the season

So Christmas is coming up, and it's got me in the mood to reflect on the meaning of the season. Now, Christmas isn't just about financial irresponsibility. It's also about raping archaic religion...

A couple of blogs ago I was writing about how responsibility is really just hyper selfishness... at least in the sense that responsibility is forward looking selfishenss. It's doing that which benefit...

In 1920 a couple of psychologists/sociopaths performed an experiment on a human baby they impersonally called, "Little Albert." They ...

the evolution of evil

I was either on my way to church or had just come back from church one Sunday when I was about 5 or 6. The details escape me. But I was pondering how our priest was constantly harping on the importanc...
