Hate to Love Social Networking
The growth of social network websites has grown tremendously over the last decade. You can't classify it as a trend but more of a phenomenon. Has the idea ever crossed anyone’s mind that this may be causing problems in our society? Has anyone noticed the changes in present time society to five years ago? Socializing has moved from the real world to our beloved world wide web.
To those of us whom where born before the early 1980’s, can you remember spending countless hours playing and roaming around your neighborhood, meeting others in the area just like you? What happened to hide and go seek late at night with new friends? My theory is that social networking websites may be to blame for the lack of real world etiquette in social interaction. Fear of the real world society has put many of us onto the online world where rejection doesn’t matter and hatred roams freely.
Blogs have become the diary and journals of the future. Some users update their blogs religiously and others will update when they feel they have something they need to express. Unlike diaries, they are is no personal space because they are open to the public.. Diaries were once kept personal and things you didn't want anyone to know where kept to yourself. Today, blogging allows users to publish their personal thoughts and feelings onto a website that can be viewed by anyone whom lands on it. Even then, Users still feel safe sharing their information because they are behind a monitor and never see who is reading their writings.
The internet has become a great mask to hide those whom fear social interaction. It’s great for hiding your insecurities and fear for rejection from society. It also allows users to speak their mind. People are able to say things to other people that wouldn’t be said regularly in a face to face real world interaction. With all things there is a good and a bad. As for me I feel that users should be aware of the good and bad things that come with every great thing. Use things for its true purpose and nothing more and remember to step outside once and awhile there are a lot of things you are missing out on in the real world. Make new friends and make memories that last forever rather then a blog that might get deleted by a hacker.
