The Institute of Ape Culture was founded in 2002 by a group of people professionally involved in the curatorship of ape artefacts. From the first it set out to be a focus for all those with a serious interest in all aspects of ape life and work, and so it remains today. The Institute is run by a small voluntary committee, with the assistance of a part time paid administrator and is funded by members subscriptions and donations.
The institute upholds and protects the integrity of those inimitable and unique works of Ape Culture, and brings together on a world-wide basis those who share these interests.
