About Me

Onomatopoeia is an entirely independent record label. We will only ever put out music, and who knows what other creations, that inspire, move, terrify, astound us. Tunes and words that hit you deeper than your ear and brain and some other connection. Things that can take you somewhere else.We have no policy other than the above. We are a not-for-profit label with all label income after artists monies going to fund future releases. We will be your mark of quality. The first release is a beautiful album by William D. Drake titled "Yew's Paw". It's an album of piano brilliance that is grandiose, melancholy, stirring, emotive, humourous, and complex. Released on the same day was be "Briny Hooves" a supreme work of psychedelic pop. HUM2 - being THE VINYL EDITION of YEW'S PAW will be in the shops within the fortnight. It will also be available from us directly for those who like things a little more homespun.Full track listing is: Yew's Paw Pipistrelle Sylvie's Proof Glassy I Louisville At The Harbour Wall Todonkin Short And Sweet Like A Donkey's Gallop Stone Carnation Ubi Sum Within My Skull The Kissing Song RalsparkThere is talk of a split 7" single emphasising the "two sides of Mr Drake" nature of these releases. Purchasing this single will enable you to two tiny peeks into the depths contained in the albums. The split will include tracks on neither Yew's Paw nor Briny Hooves. Drakey shows are currently being planned for late summer/early autumn and will be special in both concept and execution. Yew's Paw cover is below.HUM3 and HUM4 will be They Came From The Stars I Saw Them with their unearthed and angelwinged treasure They Came From The Stars I Saw Them Vs. Reality. The lp is mastered, the snaps have been snapped, and all we need do now is put notes on disks and put disks in wrappings and put the wrapped disks in shops thereby putting the tunes into your ears. I CANNOT RECOMMEND going to see them live enough. They are currently a BAND ON FIRE. They have their own myspace page for further details of their awesomeness. Some of them are in the shiny pictures above. Spot them all and win a prize (as yet unknown).Next up will be Stars In Battledress "The Story Of The Hood Tapes" an Ep to tantalise your listening bits. SiB have A LOT of material that is either finished and ready to rock your worlds, or so close to completion that it's almost touchable. Certainly it sounds fully formed and fantastic.More information will be forthcoming here and, of course, our proper site www.onophonic.com where you can see the cover for Yew's Paw in starry glory.
