Melvis & the papercuts

Too much to say, no way to say it

About Me

Melvis has been writing kind of folk/country/low-key/rock songs for quite a while now. Since 1998 to be exact. Which means there´s an anniversary around the corner soon enough... The first rare Melvis tape-recordings is from the summer of 1999, recorded with his brother Rallie (as in "Girls love Rallie") in Odense. His first gig was at his high school a few months later, where he and a buddy "performed" 3 songs. It took a while to form the first actual band, which was formed around the new year 2000/2001. The band was called Mnemonic (the name was carefully chosen one late night from a dictionary with his future bandmates). The band was Melvis, Chewie D., Silas and Rasmus Mühlbach, and this constallation played gigs in their hometown Aalborg from 2001 to 2002. Around the summer of 2002 Melvis and Chewie D. started writing songs together, and around 2003 Chewie and Melvis teamed up with Rune Hedeman (now known from 1 2 3 4), and formed a rockband, which they named Torpedoes. Johannes Gammelby ( i am bones) joined them on drums, and they played gigs for around 18 months before disbanding. During all of this, Melvis never stopped writing songs of his own, recording them at home, or with his friends. The first "official" demo carrying the Melvis name was "say hello" from 2003, recorded with Claus Søgaard (bought landings). In 2004 came "it´s a western, so say it like you mean it", which was printed in impressive 25 copies. uhh... This demo was made at home with his roommate at the time, Mr.Chewie D, contributing guitar-playing and such and such. In 2005, the demo "Greece, I love you" was made released, and cancelled all at once, which means it hasn´t seen the light of day (yet) :). Finally, in 2005/2006, Melvis started recording the selftitled record, which has just recently been released on "workaholics on holiday". This was recorded with Johannes, Chewie, Niels Mark (bought landings) and Qlauz (beta satan). besides recording, Melvis did a couple of solo shows, among others, playing at the wonderful Pop revo 2005, with only the company of his guitar. In the near future, Melvis will start recording a short EP with Qlauz and Johannes (stay tuned for info), and re-releasing "it´s a western", also on "workaholics on holiday". In the meantime, help yourself for some songs on this site, and drop a comment if we´re friends!
