The Band Rolling Moss magazine describes as "An absolute (...) experience and a definite (...) from the first listen." - is a combination of two warring bands: Senor Risky's Mexican Hot Bandito Fighting Band and Jonny Disco's Camp Club Disco.
The Lowdown:
Senor Risky and the Mexican Hot Bandito Fighting Band play traditional Mexican rebel music. The lyrics deal with past glories, days of old in Mexico, women, booze, or, more often than not, his hatred for various people (usually Jonny Disco).
Jonny Disco's Camp Club Disco plays what can be best described as electro rubbish. The lyrics are dreadful and painfully kitch, often to the point of making you cringe. Despite the name, Jonny Disco's: Camp Club Disco doesn't play anything remotely resembling disco music. It is believed his obsession with disco (which also resulted in his name change - 'Jonny Disco' was born Jonny Castrato) stems from his fondness for the movie 'Grease'.
Senor Risky and Jonny Disco are from similar backgrounds (i.e. Mexico circa 1912) but despite this they each follow completely different musical paths. As a result of divisions between the bands' respective fans a situation developed in Mexico, similar to the mods/rockers scene in Britain in the 1960's, in which nowadays a Mexican identifies himself as either a Risktaker or a Discoteer. After gigs by the individual bands street battles often result between the two factions.
On the rare occasion when Risky and Disco manage to set their differences aside and concentrate on doing what they do best; writing music together
(as opposed to fighting one another), the combined greatness of this song-writing partnership has resulted in them being hailed as the next Lennon/Ono.
Together they are Risky Disco and this is their music.
