My Story.
About 6 or 7 years ago, I received my first guitar. My Grandfather gave it to me; he believed I needed some sort of passion in my life. It instantly became my best friend. Not being terribly popular in my younger years of high school, it was my escape. I would practice until the early hours of the morning, so no one could hear me, using books as my guide. I was pretty terrible at that stage and I desperately needed lessons, but due to my shyness I couldn't play in front of an instructor so I struggled along until one night my Grandfather heard me. He took me under his wing and taught me all I needed to know. I owe him so much; anything that I am comes from him. He is truly my idol.
After about a year and a half of none stop practice, I finally worked up the nerve to play to my best/only friend at the time. She loved it and encouraged me to play to more people. So from my bedroom came lunchtime sets at school where all of a sudden I was cooler than anyone though and instantly people wanted to be close to me. From there, pubs and cafes, friend’s parties, until here I finally reached. Throughout the whole experience, I realised a lot about myself and the people around me and discovered my guitar was the only person that would stand by me and that’s where it got the title of "My Only Friend". It stood by me when I got kicked out of home, got my heartbroken, broke hearts, left school, runaways and it never judged.
I’m here to tell you my story through song, whether it’s a song about heartbreak, my past or just thoughts I need to express the only way I know how. I hope you stand by me, as I travel a journey I have no idea where it will take me. I don’t know where I’m going next.
