Cinderella, you shall go to the ball...

About Me

"Every woman has a story..." Chaotic, impetuous, warm & loving. Sometimes mad, occasionally bad, I'm a shy, self conscious, confident extrovert!? "I'm not a perfect kind of girl. My hair doesn't always stay in place, and sometimes I'm shy & say the wrong thing - but, if I take a step back & think about how truly amazing my life really is, I realise that it's okay - I'm allowed to be just a little imperfect..."

My Interests

Living, loving, laughing. Theatre, live music & art. People, conversation and debate.

I'd like to meet:

....people who can make me laugh & brighten my day!! Those with an (emotionally!) mature, open outlook - willing to embrace the contradactions that exist in us all & enough life experience to appreciate the foibles of human nature. People with true passion! Creative, intelligent, funny (ha,ha!?) warm and compassionate."Making yourself horribly vulnerable and risking humiliation is one of the most dangerous yet potentially rewarding things you can do. As such, it is usually reserved for fools in love....." "...love me for who I am, not for who you would have me be..."

Music:

Absolutely anything that gets me moving and/or moves me:- i.e. Rock, Pop, Indie/Alternative, Soul/Blues/Acoustic, Fusion Jazz, some Classical, (Good) R & B etc., but also have to confess to shamefully being a sucker for 70's dance music - always guaranteed to get me on the dancefloor!? Anything with rhythm basically.

Movies:

Where do I start?! In no particular order (& by no means an exhaustive list)....

Cabaret (Special Edition)

Dangerous Liaisons

The Jungle Book (Limited Issue)

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Some Like It Hot (Special Edition)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

A Streetcar Named Desire (Original Director's Version)

The Sixth Sense

Sleepless in Seattle

Television:

Good British drama, good British comedy, movies and documentaries.

Books:

Amongst others: The Magus (& The French Lieutenant's Woman) by John Fowles, A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, Sons & Lovers by DH Lawrence, 1984 by George Orwell, Sophie's Choice by William Styron. Most recent reads include:

Marina Lewycka - A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian

Nicole Krauss - The History of Love: A Novel

Gina Ochsner - People I Wanted to Be

Heroes:

My family, my friends, my children (who keep me laughing, keep me focused & give the BEST cuddles!), and......well, you know who you are!!

She woke with a start, the scream still on her lips.  Jumping up in panic, her heart pounding, blood rushing in her ears and the ice cold grip of fear twisting her insides.  Her left h...

Aftermath...part 1

The phone was ringing, ringing off the hook her Grandmother would have said. Katie didn't want to talk to the caller, whoever it may be.  Six rings and the answer machine would kick in; she'd hol...

Second Chance... (part 3)

The irony of the situation wasn't lost on her.  There she was, scrabbling about in the semi darkness trying to locate her hastily discarded clothes, desperate to get away from the same man that o...

Second Chance... (part 2, of 3... or 4!?)

It would be fair to say that the evening had not passed at all as planned.  Katie most certainly hadn't intended for it to be reduced to one of her 'sad, but true!?' party anecdotes, but she cou...

"Oh God!", she wailed, her cheeks burning at the memory,  "It was awful!  No, actually it was worse than awful.  It was horribly, humiliatingly, excruciatingly ghastly!" Zach and Saman...
