Bamboojuice draw from an old-school rock background, building their devoted fanbase through hard-gigging, a strong sense of self-belief and gradual but steady progress.
"At the moment," says Mark, "if you're not in the mainstream, you're outside of it, which is cool with us, revolutions have always been born outside of the status quo... wed much rather influence the mainstream than be in it."
Bamboojuice would be grateful for the marketing support a label could bring to the table but while thats not yet in place the band are doing what they do best, which is to build the house themselves.
Moving to London in '95, Mark started doing solo gigs and working through several jobs in London's busy West End, where he would meet Sav. The friendship would become the core of the band, keeping it together through several stops and starts and line-up changes.
The bands diverse global rock influences would always be a major factor in their sound, not easily pigeon-holed into the British contemporary music scene but at the same time setting them uniquely apart.
"Weve often been described as having a U.S. sound", Mark offers, "which is funny because our major musical influences are classic UK Rock bands like The Police, Rolling Stones, Queen, The Kinks, U2. You wonder, did these UK acts influence an entire generation of American musicians to sound the way they do now? or did America influence the sound of these bands way back when they started?...or better yet, does it matter?...music is so globally crossed-over in this day and age, everything is interconnected."
Two EP's down the line, "Nightsong" (2002) and "Comin Home" (2007) the band are set to release another batch of brand new tracks soon. "The new songs will be a testimony to how much the band has grown and developed musically. "I've started exploring a different side to my songwriting psyche," admits Mark, "theres a darkness in all of us, and Im putting the spotlight on that area for a change plus I get to vent on an audience and get away with it."
"Im very confident, that the fans will see a different side to Bamboojuice with these new songs and were looking forward to releasing them soon and playing them live."
